I had the same question about the interior plastic pieces which get banged up when you retract the seatbelt. I guess some sort of trimmed wide tape on the inside, and a 3M film for the area under the handle.

 

3M makes a "clear bra" type material that will work. that will be one of the first mods i do to my truck when i get it later this month. doing the side mirrors, inner (exterior) door handles, grill surround, front bumper, headlights, and probably line the bottom portions of the fenders and doors with it too.

 

where can you get the clear bra?

 

I just used a scratch removing compound I picked up at at the auto parts store (bright orange tube) and it worked phenomenally well at removing scratches from under the door handles and tail gate latch. Made a year's worth of scratches disappear. Granted they weren't very deep, but there were a lot of them and they were very visible. They are absolutely gone now.

I would just continue to go without the 3M and clean the scratches up every month or so.

 

The 3M clear tape is real nice but real expensive, you also have to buy more than you need. It works great where the cap door rubs the tailgate too.

My suggestion, take your wife's rings from here... that is what does it! Stop buying her diamonds, it breads disaster on your doors. It also scratches the inside of the glass since they wipe the fog with gloves on and the diamonds scratch thru the gloves. While your at it, take her purse too, that is what scrathes the door jams as they hap hazardly swing it in the truck. What the heck.... don't let her drive it or even ride in it, your truck will last longer!

If you can't to the above, unfortunately you'll have to live with it.

Not true. My door is the same and nobody but myself has used the handle. I think the paint is easily scratched by only finger nails.

 

Ditto. Fingernails can make superficial scratches under the door handle. Usually a little cleaner wax is enough to polish them out.

 

Search ebay for "CHROME DOOR HANDLE BOWLS", ABS with 3M tape!

 

Anyone have scratches in the door sills where the sill guard meets up with the plastic trim piece? My driver side has tiny scratches in between the 2, where dirt gets trapped I guess. I hate it.

i've got 3M clear bra door cups on my truck, works great.

 

I did some searching online but couldn't find any cups specifically for our truck. Did you get your custom made or can you point us/me to where you got them?

 

Wow! I thought this was a truck forum. It's funny how we'll take our trucks muddin', campin', and use 'em to move but we'll cuss up and down when we get scratches under our door handles.

lmao! nothin wrong with taking care of your truck if you have the means to do it.

 

I was going to try the screen protectors for my cell phone screen. You can cut to fit just under the handles and they are pretty inexpensive.

 

I just took my truck down to clear bra and paid them $5 and door. It's a must though, I learned through my last vehicle lol.

 

I find that a scratch removing polish will get out any fine scratches your nails will do to the paint.

Nothing wrong with keeping your paint in good condition, just cause it's a truck doesn't mean the paint needs to look like crap.
