Pull off the road, put it in park, and use your phone.

 

You should learn how to use modern technology. You can send a text with voice commands. No need to take hands off steering wheel or eyes off the road.

Ya... I've never actually instigated a text from the car using voice control, but I have "read" and responded frequently.
It works for straight SMS, unfortunately we use Group-Me at work and it's not compatible with AA.

 

Just what we need...an android auto thread to go with all the carplay threads around here.

I have a similar issue. It is easy to text pressing the phone button but I cannot get the steering wheel control button to allow anything but quick text messages. This is a 2022 Tacoma. I had a 2020 and it worked just fine either way and my dealer doesn't have any help to offer.
