Noticed same thing on my 15 SE. Anyone else faces same problem?

 

Maybe its by design, allowing a little bit of more flexibility, but it doesn't seem right. It moves around freely, and im not used to that.

 

Easy, just pull the shift boot down (don't be afraid, comes off easy) and tighten your shift knob (righty - tighty, lefty - loosey). Make sure your shift knob is pointing forward when you put back your shift boot.

They are the same with my 15' Corolla which I have the same issue as yours before. The shift knob is just a little loose.

 

Thanks for the tip. My shift knob was also rotating in both directions but a full 360 degree twist clockwise solved the problem. You would think that Toyota would have done this at the factory.

 

You mean pull the shift boot down from the neck of the shift knob? What about putting it on again? Will I be able to put it back on the neck again or what not? It feels like it wants to rip.

 

Yes, pull it from the neck. No worries, it comes off easy and easy to put it back. It will snap in place when you put it back on.

It's kinda like putting a condom on your shlong. You need to pull it back while putting it on and pull it forward while taking it off lol.

Alright I did it. it was easy. At first, tugging it lightly didn't work, so I stopped. Then I tugged on it a little harder and it un-clicked. I tightened it and clicked the boot back on to the neck.

I had the same issue with my '09 Venza when we got it fresh from the factory. The dealership never screwed the knob on tight enough.

 

I have both of this and interchange them monthly on my Corolla, because mine came with a vinyl/plastic shift knob.

I just pull the half part of the shift knobs and put it on my Corolla.

 

Would you be able to take a picture and post how both shift knobs looks on the car?

 

My LE also. Factory screw up.
