Smog readiness - 'Catalyst Vehicle' flag question

I very recently replaced the exhaust gasket between the exhaust manifold and front pipe to seal a leak at that flange. Prior to this repair, all the smog readiness indicators in the Bluedriver scan tool showed the tests were incomplete. After driving a little bit, all the smog readiness indicators are good except 'Catalyst Vehicle' - see image below.

Per an acquaintance who is a mechanic (but doesn't do inspections) here in NY state, if only one test related to smog readiness is incomplete and there is no CEL (there is not), then the vehicle will pass emissions.

Thoughts on this? What exactly is the 'Catalyst Vehicle' check looking for? The O2 sensor check is good, and the downstream O2 sensor is downstream of the exhaust gasket I replaced, so that suggests to me the repair stopped the leak.

Its the O2 + cat temps checking I guess based on drive cycles for ECU to complete its tests. One of them can be incomplete like Evap.. Catalyst and evap are the last ones, but most of the time Catalyst monitor completes before evap... Evap takes the longest.

Follow the drive cycle stuff ^^ and should be complete. Normally, daily driving with gas tank between 1/4 - 3/4 should be good for all tests. Never full tank.

And any CEL cleared also resets the monitors. So you have to make sure to check before going for testing. Some will tell you but some still do the test to fail you and give discount on retest. Make sure you do not do anything that requires a CEL reset at least a couple days before testing.

Evap is complete as per the report in OP, but catalyst is not.

I filled the gas tank right after the repair. 😣 Now I know. Also haven't driven on highway yet. Both of these conditions should be satisfied this weekend, so hopefully it will be good to go after that, thanks!

Same across the pond in the UK 🇬🇧

Passes every time with some tests showing incomplete. Just make sure to clear any engine codes before the test.

Once I got a P0420 engine code - Catalyst system efficiency below threshold (Bank 1). Seafoam wasn’t recommended so I used a catalytic converter cleaner and a petrol system cleaner, on a quarter tank and ran it hard on the highway. It “cleared” up any clogs and the car wasn’t sluggish anymore. Passed emissions with flying colours
