I have found a place in Montreal where you can get a HELLA horn for $10.
I plan to replace the horn as soon as I can find it on the car. I will need someone to honk the horn as I go around the front of the car to locate the source of the wimpy horn.

i think any horn sounds better than the stock one. my vibe uses the same wimpy horns as your car and when i honked at someone that cut me off i actually laughed out loud lol it was so embarassing. it sounded more like "umm excuse me, can you move over a bit please?" lol i bought a horn from autozone and it sounded a lot better :D

but yah the horn's not hard to find...it's behind the grill and it's this small black disc thing...mine was pretty easy to install since it had a relay built in to the horn.

I took a couple pics of my hellas. The one on the right is looking from the top. Use the existing threaded hole from the stock horn and there is a threaded hole on the left side for the second bracket. I used the existing wire and split a new wire to go to both horns and grounded both. Super easy, just pull the top of the grill back and then everything is a piece of cake:clap:

Train horns and big rig horns have been done, cruise ship now there is something different.

Someone should put a foghorn in, nice and deep tones that lighthouses use. Now that would be cool.

Too bad the horns would be bigger than the car....

hey i'm wondering if anybody's had probs w/ their new horn yet. does this corolla need a relay for an aftermarket horn, or a higher amp fuse? i have a feeling the crappy horn setup in there now isn't wired to carry much current. does anyone know if the horn closes the circuit to ground or to the power source? or, do aftermarket horns just plug right in w/ no worries

yea. it sucks. plain and simple, i bought the new horns before I even took delivery of the car. i knew they'd just plain suck

for most horns out there, probably not.

i made up a wiring harness out of 12 gauge wire to get power directly for my horns. i know its overkill, but the horns are a tad bit louder and I don't have to worry about hacking up my car's electrical system since it takes less power to power the relay than it does to power the factory horn.

the factory horn uses a single positive wire. the horns ground themselves via the mounting bracket. if your aftermarket horn doesn't ground themselves similarly (many don't) then you will just have to add an extra wire to ground the horns.
