2009 Sienna stalls immediately after starting. Will start after a couple of tries by giving it all to the accelerator. Runs fine once started. Independent mechanic said throttle body. He cleaned it. Ran Seafoam through. No change. New throttle body. No change. New mass airflow sensor. No change. New spark plugs. No change. I have reset the idle according to several YouTube videos. I have also disconnected the battery for 1 hour and 48 hours attempting to reset the computer (which is advised after the those new parts are installed). His guessing has cost me $670 and the car still doesn’t start without failing once, twice, or more. This is my teenage daughter’s vehicle and I don’t want her to become stranded to and from work, so the van is parked and she’s driving my car. HELP!!!

Fuel, air and spark! One of them is letting you down. Unfortunately we also have microprocessors involved, so diagnostics aren't so cut and dry anymore.

Your independent shop has hit all the basics that we shadetree folks would likely suggest. The only other thing that comes to mind (someone else with mystery starting issues) was communication between the two potentiometers of the electronic throttle (gas pedal) and the throttle body electronic module. I think they changed the pedal assembly?

It might be time to go visit Mother Toyota to see if they can come up with anything new.
