Im looking to do a swap from my anemic 4afe. I have the complete engine loom and ECU from my manual MR2 that i am looking to put into the 91 corolla AE92 sedan. But I also have alot of unique toyota parts. I have the 7afe short block as well. I have heard I could go 7age with swapping pistons and the head and a porsche 944 timing belt as well. And I also have a 1zz and 2zz crank, as I have heard of creating a bigger stroker with this using nissan ca18 pistons. bumping it up to 1990 cc and some people call it a 9AGE. What should I do? Im thinking go 7age, but if there isnt tons of machining the 9age sounds good too. Not looking to spend gobbs of money as I have most of the parts.

Sorry for the double post but I was feeling rushed earlier

So im thinking im going to try a stroked 7age, with a 1zz crank, 2zz rods (the weak point in the 7afe) and 4age pistons and big port head, calculated this out to be 1886 cc's. Main journals are the same diameter. hopefully the 2zz rods have the same piston pin diameter of the 4age pistons. I will take it to a machinist to have everything balanced. I guess the bore can be stroked out to 83 without interfering with the sleeve, anything more than that and I will need new sleves. So its possible to take the 7a block up to 1980cc, But i think im going to stick with 1886cc for ease of stock parts. Has anyone ever heard of this or done this stroker motor?

Wiring im going to use the stock 4age computer from the mr2 until I can afford a MS unit later on, or perhaps a 20v head later on. Injectors will be 295s from a mk3 supra 7mge motor.

Everything is going to be adapted to the ae92 sedan body. Im keeping the wiring harness from the interior chassis, and linking the ge engine harness to the corolla harness.

sounds like you've definately looked into it. i've heard rumours of the zz crankshaft fitment, but to be perfectly honest i've never seen it done. heres a good link for alot of little bits of info (not sure if you have to register to the site, but its worth it). should cover everything.

like the write up mentions, youll need smallport pistons and pins if you wish to use 4age pistons in place of the 7afe ones.

Some of the wiki info is off but 9age is possible with some amout of machine work custom rods are the main problem and the most costly you can use zzge rods with a zzfe crank but aaside from modifyed pistons or custom pistons its a budget swap i had a 9age but since then havent found a fx gts for a nice all out 9age swap just been driving the 3sgte camry here are some older pi cs used 8.0 gze pistons for comparison

Any updates?
i used ca18det pistons shaved a little over 1mm and a thicker hks metal headgasket I had to enlarge the bores to 83mm but in the pictures i used gze pistons as the other 9age was already assembled
i got in over my head when i fitted a silver top vvt cam on the 16v camshaft but never got around to making an oil gallery to lubricate the vvt like the 20v ironic thing now i have a fx 16 gts and the engine isnt done becuase i wanted to squeeze more out of the 16v head...let us know david
