Just curious, but the stock windows are actually dyed glass right? As in they are not tinted like an aftermarket tint?

If this is the case, im wondering what kind of aftermarket tint would make the front be whatevers legel and the back being like 1 above limo tint.

I dont know about Canada but in the United States how dark your tint can be varies from state to state. For example here in Mass you can only put 50% tint on your front windows and a windshield strip cant be wider than four inches. Which sucks if your tint on the back windows is 20%, which mine is. By the way I picked up pre-cut window tint off Ebay and installed it myself for alot cheaper than having it put on by a tint shop.

Its Black =)

On my last car i had my tints at 25% and 5%...

i think the lower the # the darker right? if so then i had 25% in front and 5% rear.

That basically what the legal limit is here, so if only i knew what the stock % was.

Oh and as for doing it myself, i would rather have a shop do it so if it bubbles they fix it free. I see too many tint jobs that are bubbling, and look bad to even think of doing it myself

Actually, every windshield has a mark up near the top just below the OEM gradient tint line called an AS1/ASI line. 50 state compliance means that no tint can be installed below that line on the glass. Look at any car and you will see it marked on the glass.

I think newer cars use the mark "AS1-" , and my old Ford has "ASI-"...

Anyway, you get the point....

Here's a link that has all the tint regulations per state law as of July 2004. Also inlcuded is how far down the windshield you can go. The "AS1" line is referred to as well.

Interesting link. It says in PA the max is 70% period, yet a large amount of Toyota owners claim that 20% tint will match the 'privacy' glass. My question is, how is it legal to have that dark of a tint job from factory, yet it's illegal to go get it done aftermarket?

I've never heard of anyone getting cited for rear tint, but I guess it could happen if the cop wanted to be an ass. Since it comes that way from the factory, I'd think you would have a pretty good argument in court.
