Hi guys,
I'm working on a 1994 pickup, 2 wd with 22re engine. There appears to be a water leak at the bell housing. I don't see any indication on the top of the bell housing of a leak from the heater hard lines but below I'm getting fluid dripping as shown in the pic when the system has been pressurized. Could it possibly be from a freeze plug located behind the fly wheel? I'm not even sure if they are located there. I do see two freeze plugs on each side of the engine and the one that is on the drivers side aft appears to be seeping as well. If it is a freeze plug, can it be replaced by dropping the transmission, removing the flywheel, and doing the r&r from below?

yeah i agree, i had a leak that dripped from the same spot, but the actual leak was one of the hard lines on the intake side of the engine. clean it up and run it then look for the real source is what you should do.

Thanks for the replies. I have cleaned it up and I have looked at all the hard lines. It could maybe be a head gasket although I don't see wetness on top of the bell housing. The day I posted this I found a picture online of a 22RE and it clearly showed a freeze plug located behind the flywheel. One of the other freezeplugs is leaking and I think I have two.
