Subwoofer making noise when radio is off

I had a subwoofer installed about 6 weeks ago and it sometimes makes noise even when the radio is off. It is a really loud deep sound that gradually gets louder. When it happens it is usually right when I turn the car on, because I shut the radio off before I shut the car off. This problem occured the day it was installed, then it was fixed up until now. Why would it all of the sudden start doing it again, and what causes this, and how do I fix it?

No it doesn't make the noise when the engine is revved. I can't really only say it happens when I turn on the car, because when it does happen then I usually just leave the radio on and turn the volume completley down. When the radio is on no matter what volume it doesn't make that noise, it only happens when it is off for some reason, and usually right when I turn the car on or close a door or something.

well i'm assuming your using the factory radio and i think the key thing is here is that whatever the speaker converter they used to dump stuff into the rca's is feeding bad into the amps cause the amps are still on even through the radio is off. The simple solution is to get them to put some sort of a kill switch in to the turnon wire so you can shutoff the amps while the car is still on, or see if they have a better speaker-to-rca converter they can toss in.

well the amp should be wired to the ignition in cases where they are using a factory radio, so when the car is off, the amp is off. as far as the unit they are using to convert the signals into something the amp can handle, i wouldn't know if it was hooked up wrong unless i saw the thing but i would have them check it and see. that is my guess as to what is wrong.

uhh.. first lesson I wouldn't go to Circuit City in the first place they don't know what they're selling or how to advertise it. they just know what sounds better if they hear it. Some of the guys in my town aren't even licensed and they get away with half of the stuff that could've got them sued but oh well

Well i used to do installs at a CC a few years ago, and when i started there, i really turned the place around. I used to sell more and do better installs then the current crew, but yeah some CCs just don't really care and most of the people they have working for them aren't certified, but some really know their stuff. defective equipment happens, and if you have the warentee, just explain what's up and see if they will fix it.
