'96 T-100, must replace exhaust from cat on back. Looking into the Bosal one-piece. Anyone have experience/ opinion about this system.

Does it fit without issues?

Cost vs other systems ?

Quietness [ I don't want to hear god-awful noise, just the radio] ?

I put one on my 98 a few years back. No fitment issues just like the stock one. Took about 30 min to put on, just as quiet as the stock one, very good quality. Just cheaper price. Do hestiate just get it. If memory serves me I bought from Parts Geek.com.

Got mine from AutoZone with a 100 month warranty and it was delivered fer free at the time. It lasted about 4 years before it rusted out in a salt free environment. The free replacement was missing the nuts that should've been welded to the back of the flange. Fer long term, I would look at a different setup. I've been looking at the stainless steel Gibson catback setup that 96Wolf has on his T-100 as a potential replacement whe I have to replace mine again.

I have a thread in here with piccies... ;)

The Bosal is a quiet system and takes a little finess to git it in place but fits without any problems.

Great info BZP, exactly the type of info I'm looking for.
As third owner for 10 years now, previous guy had it 3, 1st was local Toyota service manager's wife. Pretty sure it was garage kept with first two owners, has not been with me.
Looks like a replacement since there are 3 pieces aft of the converter.
Driven well under 5000 mi/yr & they do use salt here.
Cost is a significant factor since I don't want to go through this every few years.

I have the Gibson cat back. I believe it's about 3-4 years old now. Still great. It's stainless steel with a lifetime warranty. I needed the whole exhaust as my pipes where in rough shape. Not surprising as my grandpa and dad both drive around a few miles a day. When I got the truck 4 years ago it has around 50k miles. So you get the idea.

Anyway I like the look and the pipe size. The construction appears to be great. It was easy to install. It's not much louder then stock. It's a v6 so it's never going to sound good in my opinion. Once at highway speed it's not noticeable at all. I did add sound deadening to my truck. Search for threads started by me and my speaker upgrade. Best thing I did.

I would recommend it as the price was great.

I bought the cheepo autozone muffler and tail pipe for my old 91 ford. It lasted only 18 months. This was when I lived in Pittsburgh pa. So salt but I drove it on long enough trips to get it warmed up properly. And by lasted I mean that the tail pipe rotted right off by the muffler. Followed by the muffler just basically disappearing. It was junk. Cheep junk. I suppose I got what I paid for;)

Here is my thread. http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/60-t-100/318517-my-96-t-100-speaker-upgrade-others.html

I agree with others that went with a better system (i.e. stainless) for long term. You'll pay a little more now but you won't have to deal with replacement for many years.
I put a Borla on my truck back in 1998 and the thing is still solid. When/if I ever have to replace the "cat forward" section of the exhaust, I'll be able to bolt (or weld) the Borla right back up to it. Not bad for $360 and change 16 years ago:thumbsup:

Nice, I have heard Borla is one of the best systems you can get. If they were $360 bucks now I would have gotten one;)

My next exhaust on my "new" 06 F150 will be borla. I am pretty sure. At least with the V8 you can really do about any thing and they sound good.

My biggest thing is that I don't want to have any "drone" And I have heard that those borlas on the ford 5.4L don't.

Anyway how do you like the sound of the borla on the V6?

I went with the Gibson exhaust on mine. Not sure how it is yet because after I installed it I noticed my cat has tiny pin holes all over. lol Other than that it went together easily and looks good. The sound at the end isn't too loud though it is a lil hard to tell with the pin holes in the cat lol.
