Hello all, I want to change out the manual transmission fluid in my 08' Pre Runner 6 speed. I want to get a good synthetic in there. I need some accurate info as to where the re-fill plug is. The drain plug is obvious. I've gotten several different stories :headbang: on where to re-fill, the correct capacity, (and weight it's 75-90)? for this tranny. Anyone with first hand experience or photos would be greatly appreciated. Any advice is nice! Thanks for the help.

Wasn't so much what it said... it was nothing more than an illustration showing the location of the fill plug & drain plug. If there had been any pertinent info, I would have posted the text. You didn't miss a thing.

In fact, the drain plug on his '08 is on the bottom of the box.... the link (for an '05-'06) shows it on the lower pass. side, with the fill plug on the drivers side. I had thought they would be the same, but it has obviously been relocated. I would have checked my truck but it's an auto box.

Edit: I believe the pdf I sent may have been for the manual box for a 4-cyl. truck. Have since sent the index with all pdfs.

This is why I rarely visit this site.... too much B.S'n and "ego" stroking. Everyone's a critic. How about just letting someone answer a question and try to help..?? Thanks Splicer, your info was greatly appreciated.
If you take offense or think people are harsh on here....you should visit some of the others I won't mention. :ugh3:

The name pretty much says it all..... WAD! Sorry were not all seasoned Toyota experts ourselves. I thought that what this site was for, gaining knowledge. So excuse me for being a new Toy owner and trying to get some info. This is exactly why people avoid this site, "WAD's" like you......... And as far as being stupid, anytime you'd like to compare educational credentials, well I'd say you've "spun a bearing". So I apologize for all of us that aren't as smart as(s) you. And as for acronyms, GFYMF!!! You're smart, figure it out.
^ Wow you need to grow up kid! :thumbsdow :disappoin

If you searched this topic it has been covered already. A quality synthetic like Redline, Amsoil, Royal Purple, etc can be used. I use Redline and love it. Make sure you take off the fill plug first then the drain plug...gotta make it dummy proof!

I could be wrong but I think your sarcasm meter is broken. Either way...:ugh3:

I'd suggest redline, castrol, mobil 1, or valvoline synthetics in a 75W-90 weight.
YMMV
