I mentioned to DH that someone said the Toyota 1N diesel engine could be used in a Tercel like ours (94 3EE auto), and there is one currently offered on Ebay.

He wants more details. Has anyone ever done that? DH *loves* diesels and picks them up whenever possible.

Is the 1N better suited to a different model Tercel? We also have access to an early 80s Tercel with a manual tranny (I don't know how many speeds, but the clutch is shot).

I know most people who swap out Tercel engines go for more power, but DH is more interested in getting high mpg.
