Thickness of front sway bar?

I'm planning to get the polyurethane front sway bar bushings to replace the stock rubber ones. Does anyone know the diameter of the front sway bar? It's either 18mm or 19mm, I don't have a dial or anything to measure it to that accuracy.

I have a 1997 LE V6.

I think it's 22mm for the front sway bar and 19mm for the rear sway bar. Can anybody confirm this if I've got the right answer?:smokin:

Well the aftermarket Whiteline front sway bar is 24mm, so i don't think the stock ones are 22mm thick.

I asked a toyota dealership and they said it was 3/4", which is 19mm. Is that accurate?

Its definitely bigger than 16mm for the rears. And i'd also say 20mm for the fronts. The aftermarket swaybars are only a couple of mm thicker (accounts for exponential amount of strength).

IF toyot made the front sway bar thicker stock, it'd hate to take it around the corner. You'll fly head first into a tree. (Understeer galore) Whereas thicker rears gives more neutral with a tad of oversteer. (safer in most conditions)

Well the part number for the bushings is 48815-33050. I called a few dealerships and most of them said the diameter is 3/4", which is equal to 19mm.

The reason why I'm asking is I'm planning to get the polyurethene sway bar bushings from Energy Suspension. Ebay has two sizes for the 97 Camry, either 18mm or 19mm, so I know it's one or the other. I'm planning to get them from ebay, it's $24 shipped for two. Is it worth the trouble to get the poly ones? Or would the OEM rubber ones for $14 work just as fine?

Also, I ordered sway bar end links to be replaced as well. Is there a certain type of lubrication I should use for the sway bar end link bolts or even for the sway bar bushings? Any special grease or lubricant I can pick up from an auto shop?

Here's the bushing:

um...swaybars are different for different trim levels and motor options. my 96 has the 19mm in front, .67" (16mm) in the rear, same as the v6 xle. in my case, it's because of the lack of weight in the front end. for the xle, it was for controlling vehicle movement on a heavier car.

Yeah, that's probably why I've been getting different answers.

But one dealership gave me the item number for the bushings and another gave me the exact same number. Both of them told me it was 3/4", so I guess it should be alright.

But if you are any other sources or suggestion, I'd be glad to listen!

Requoted from above:
