Anybody here replaced their outer Tier Rod Ends? I gotta change mine out (my steering is a little wobbly and I can move the tire side to side a bit when its off the ground) and i need ta know if there is a specific tool I use ta loosen the jam nut on the tie rod itslef? (Not the actual tie rod nut where the cotter pin goes thru, the nut that u loosen to rotate the tie rod to adjust the Toe. i dont want ta use a regular open end wrench cuz Im thinking with the amount of torque I'll put on the wrench while turning, it will round off the nut. its pretty rusted on there and i dont think I got flare nut crow feet ta fit that size nut. I got a 95 'rolla 1.8L DX. is there a special tool like a tie rod jam nut tool or adjusting sleeve tool ta get that stupid nut loose? Any input would be appreciated. :cursin:

nope, just turn the wheel all the way so the tierod is sticking out far and then get an open end wrench which fits correctly and go at it...after spraying with penetrating lube. a little heat on the nut from a torch may be needed to get it to break free. hold the tie rod end with something or leave it in the knuckle so you can put all the effort into the jam nut. worse comes to worse just cut it with a dremel and use a chisel to open it so it comes off. you should install a new jam nut anyways.

I used a pair of vice grips to hold the inner tie rod, and then a open end wrench 14mm I think to turn the nut. Some of them come out pretty hard. Spray it down with some PB Blaster or wd40 to help loosen it up first. You may have to use a cutoff wheel and a dremel to cut it off if you can't get it loose. I had to cut one side, but the other came loose without too much trouble.

good luck
