Hi all,

Just got a 2010 Avalon Limited (78k on it) and need 2 tire pressure sensors for the front - I can get OEM for 65 each or 143 shipped. Is this one of those parts that I need to suck it up and get OEM or is the aftermarket decent?
Trying to save some $$$ as I just bought the wife a 2023 SIenna hybrid last week! :)

Thanks,
Joe

Pacific makes most sensors for Toyota. Denso is just a rebranded Pacific as denso does not make any TPMS. The T3 can also use several other “programmable” TPMS like Schrader and HUF/BHSens.

The TPMS will come ready to install however you will need a tool to do a relearn

Pacific T3. Same as Denso 550-0103. All I meant was that particular protocol can be programmed into a "programmable" sensor. Meaning you have options. The T5 or Denso 550-0105 CANNOT if you have a highline (individual tire pressure display) display.

GO TO ROCKAUTO AND LOOK UP TPMS AND SEEK OUT 'DENSO'. THANKS TO SOMEONE ON HERE, I FOUND THEM FOR 38 EACH. THEY DO NOT NEED PROGRAMED BEFORE INSTALL, BUT DO NEED TO BE "RELEARNED" AFTER INSTALL. THE PERSON WHO INSTALLS THESE WILL HOOK HIS SETTING DEVICE INTO YOUR ON BOARD DIAGNOSTIC PORT AND CLICK "RE-LEARN", AFTER THIS YOU'RE DONE! AGAIN, NO PROGRAMMING NECESSARY. DENSO CLAIMS 10-YEAR BATTERY LIFE!!!

And FYI Dormsn does not manufacture any sensors. They rebrand multiple different companies that make for them. Glad you had good luck. Most of their stuff comes from a cheap Chinese manufacturer.

I know what a Schrader valve is thanks for the google search. I own a TPMS company and have been doing TPMS since 2005 but thanks. You stated every car truck and motorcycle uses a Schrader valve which is actually wrong. They all don’t. Then you stated something about a monitor whatever that is so I was clarifying that for you that the TPMS “sensor” is what Schrader supplies for many of the vehicles throughout the world and sell the most sensors in the world.

With the advantage of 20/20 hindsight ...

Couldn't a new set of sensors be programmed to the car BEFORE installing them?

My daughter has a 2015 Rav4 XLE and the OEM sensors seem to have died
She's not great on checking tire pressure so I do want to fix it....

The array of offerings at RockAuto leave me a little dizzy ...
I've never mess with TPMS before, my 87 Supra doesn't have it ...

With Toyota you need a TPMS tool regardless. If you don’t want to do a relearn you can clone the OE sensors if they are not completely dead and then install them. To do that you need a TPMS tool. If you buy TPMS that are programmable they will come ready to install. You then need to do a relearn which takes a TPMS tool. Even if you bought factory TPMS from the dealer they still have to use a TPMS tool (or their shop diagnostic tool) to relearn and tell the car the new TPMS id’s.
