I'm looking at replacing the TPMS Sensors in my 2009 Corolla.

The TPMS has worked flawlessly but the car is 10 years old and I'm told the sensor batteries are near their life expectancy.
As I need a new set of tires I thought this would be the ideal time to replace the sensors.
I can purchase a new set of 4 for about $50.00 us. The originals have metal valve stems that are troublesome in cold weather and corrode so am looking at a set with rubber valve stems (same price).

My question is:
The seller states "No sensor programming Required: These sensors come pre-programmed specifically for your make/model/year of vehicle."

Toyota on the other hand says the car needs to relearn the senors requiring programing equipment.

Anyone have any experience with this?

OK got this figured out.

A pre-programmed sensor comes from the factory programed with a sensor code and configured for a particular make and model it needs to be relearned by vehicle when installed.

A programmable sensor comes from the factory blank with no sensor code it is universal and comes in 315Mhz or 433Mhz, you need a program tool to specify vehicle and to input a sensor code.

The advantage of the programmable is that you can clone your old sensor so no need for the vehicle to relearn. In addition if you have a set of winter tires you can clone the sensors from you summer tires so there is no relearn issue when changing back and forth. Also with a 315MHZ and 433Mhz sensor most vehicles are covered with only 2 different sensors however, the programming tool is several hundred dollars.
There are also a few oddball systems that these sensors do not cover.
