Anyone get the Tacoma with traction control? Like it? Worth it? My wifes car has it, freaked me out not sure if I like it.

I think in mud you would probably end up shutting it off because it would limit you too much rather than do any good. I don't have it, and have never really had any problems. Even in the rain, if you are putting your foot down enough to spin them, unintentionally, then you have heavy feet

Unless you are talking about the A-Trac, which if i remember right, the taco's don't have yet. the FJ's have it.

I mean its not to say that it isn't easy to spin them in the rain, or any time for that matter :naughty: but its one of those things that, after awhile you start to get used to the truck and you know where the limits are. I will say this 236 horse V6 gets it done much better than that old 22R i came from, but both being open diff (taco has a diff lock) I kinda got used to how they respond in rain.

I have it and I've only had it kick in once or twice on wet pavement. Acutally maybe it was VSC not traction control that kicked in. One thing to note though since you said snow/ice. The only time I've driven on snow/ice that bad was when chain controls were in effect which meant engagin 4wd. Traction and VSC are turned OFF with 4WD engaged.

I have the whole shebang on my truck. Vsc,trac, atrac and it's all various high speed acronyms for the same thing. It uses the wheel speed sensors and a computer to control individual brakes. For normal highway driving, I leave mine on. I can let my mind float and push my truck hard with no worries of rolling, spinning out, sliding off a corner.... it would be a great asset for any stoner. You can go into a 25mph corner at 60 and somehow pull through it without any great effort or driving skill...on dry pavement. If I am really feeling froggy I turn it off and drift through the corners tires squalling, mind focused, shift hand slinging through gears... On the other hand, if it's wet out at all I turn that crap off. If you take a corner too fast the inside front tire locks and brakes chatter and the front end just pushes causing severe understeer. Nail it coming out of a corner and the light blinks and shit beeps and the throttle is cut. What fun is that? I thought throttle limiters were for five year olds on mini bikes? Long story short, if you can drive you won't like it. If you are a stoned soccer mom you will love it.
