Ok i have started saving now to do my turbo. i know that there is alot of stuff that i am going to need to buy here is my list so far

1. Turbo
2. Intercooler
3. piping
4. Fuel pump
5. Fuel injectors
6. oil lines
7. turbo timer
8. fuel pressure regulator

and i am going to get a stand alone engine management system just so that i can tune everything to the way that i want it and change it from the race tune to the regular (to save on gas and wear on the engine). i know that i am going to need to build up my bottom end but i dont exactly know what all i am going to need to do that so if anyone knows what all i am going to need or what i am missing please tell me

Forged pistons

Billet rods

New rings

New bearings (rod and main)

Seals

Gaskets

Oil pump

Water pump

Belts

Main studs (ARP)

Head studs (ARP)

The block needs to be honed or bored. If its bored, you need larger pistons.

And the crank needs to be balanced.

guys ... whoa calm down.. let the guy no the basics first. if the 94 camry is the same as the 92, your gonna run into a lot more problems then that. sure the ct26 will fit. the exaust gaskets are the same. but unfortunaly, the massive engine mount in the front doenst clear the turbo. i had to make a custom engine mount for the upper side and use the celica front engine mount on the tranny making a hole in the suframe. also, your gonna need to cool the turbo with oil and water. so your gonna need that set of pipes that connect tothe water pump on the left front of the engine in order to od that. plus with taht you have to put an oil cooler which i used the cleica one and custom fit it to the camry block. once you managae all that your gonna need to cutsom make a fitting in the oil pan for the oil return becuase NO the celica oil pan does not fit on the camry becasuse the camry has a harmonic balancer under the crank. its not as easy as people say it is. its taken me over a month almost 2 now but i did the head swap off a celica also. its extremely complicated and becomes veyr expensive. iv yet to finish since my enigne fell once and the car is leaking oil. im still not sure weather the turbo is being well lubed cause it became red hot last time i dorve it. if your seriuosly interested, and you have the time and money, let me no and ill tell you everything and send you plenty of pics of what iv done. good luck!

Looks like you have a good start but there is a ton of info to research and one of the best places to research is www.mr2oc.com , its all mr2's and a few celicas but they have a whole sticky on building a 5sfte and if you just search 5sfte you will find a ton of info. Make sure you do something about timing!

the only thing is that i have the 1mz-fe. i am planning to build a turbo that is going to almost be like the sts systems but i need to make sure that it is going to hold all the power and i need, i have to make sure that everthing that i put on it is going to last a good ammount of time so it is all gong to get done right the 1st time

no ones noticed that he has a v6 lol....

mcelligot sells a kit for the 3vz which will fit the 1mz without too much major modding but you will need to relocate ya bettery, and need a manual tranny.

even if you STS, youre return to intake pipe is going to be way too long without the extra space provided by a manual transmission (were talking an extra 5-6 feet of piping minimum here).

get a manual first, its A LOT cheaper, and youll go 30% quicker.

whoa whoa whoa....hold on.....he does??? since when?? ive nver heard anything about actually selling a kit from him....ever....fill me in
its pretty much just piping, and turbo.

youll need to source your own controllers/fuel system etc

mounts the turbo where ya battery used to be :p

similar to tonys pipe set up where teh rear bank loops up to the front back the branches off to the turbo on the side of the engine bay :)

but you need a manual.

how much of a size diffrence is there between the auto and the manual tranny i never thought that there was too much of a diffrence between them... and yes i do have the V6 (1MZ-FE)... and i know i forgot to put that in the first post sry guys

#15 ·
its like 50% bigger, you cannot run even a 1.5" pipe around the auto, its too big.

need manual.

manual conversion first. and ifyorue unsatisfied with the HUGE (i mean HUGE) improvement in speed and economy, meh.

oh and you do have that you have a v6..its in every one of your posts.

i actually have an xtra ct-26 lyin around, and even someone to fab the pipes only no time to help with the fabricating :) .....nvr knew he sold the piping, that would be a great help, n e idea how much he would sell the piping for if it were to fit a ct-26? i wont beable to get it soon with all the fines im paying from a ticket, underage possession of alcohol (argh.....), and another fine complements of my apartment complex, but its good to kno for the future....i also need a manual :sosad: , my auto is already stuggling from the power i added and once i fix my knock sensor problem ill be really worried about it

junkyard....do a search on installation parts.....DIY's are out ther.......i hope u realize wut ur getting urself into....give some serious thot to it before u start.....take wut u expect to spend then double it as a budget...im sure ull spend almost all of it....ask anyone who has mod'd out their camry's....its expensive and very time consuming

Luis and I will be selling a 1mz turbo kit in late fall/early winter. we are in testing on my car right now... we plan to start a group buy once we are satisfied with the kit on my car. we wont sell anything that will blow your motor if you use it properly, we wont sell anything that is incomplete. we wont sell something that will fall apart in a year. so believe me, you all want to wait for this...

unoffically.... cough, no, cough.

officially... unfortunately the 3vz was only offered for 2 years, and it wouldnt sell as well as the kit for the 1mz would with 5 years at least with the fitment of 1 kit...

3vz may be an option after the 1mz kit, but we'll have to see how it all plays out. I would have to get a 3vz test car and also decide what to do with fueling. It will probably happen, but 1mz and 5sfe will come first.

as far as the ct26 goes, no. we will use a properly sized turbo, the ct26 will not cut it for us.

i kno the ct-26 would NEVER happen, its not a great turbo, small, and takes forever to spool compared to others, it was more of a joke then anything, but back to reality.....

wut do u mean by wut to do with the feuling?its very similar to the 1mz in that aspect insnt it? upgrade to a 255 then add (if u want to keep it safe for stock) not much bigger than 315-360cc using, tops, 8psi i would guesstimate w/o upgrading the weak head gaskets, then not too much boost further after that the pistons depending on age and other mods already done.

we will release a price after we are done testing, plus we have a few options as far as a wholesale source for turbos goes so we have to figure that type of stuff out before we determine an actual price. as for the power, i think we should be around the area of 250-275 hp on a dyno... but i wont know until i get to the dyno, and i need to tune first,

soooo basically nothing is certain as of now.

expect around a total cost of 2500-3000 for a completely safe, intercooled, kit with all the fueling options and all brand new parts. we will use either the gt32 or gt35 from garrett. ive probably spent around 4-5 g's on my turbo setup, but that higher cost is what comes with the testing and fitting process. plus i have a few more things... :)
