It's normal to have oil seeping out if you fill the turbo up with oil... Most of the regular bearing turbos need a bit of oil pressure to seal itself and work properly, and since there is no oil pressure, the oil will slowly seep out if you fill it with enough oil.

There's no need to fill up the turbo with oil for storage. For used turbos, I'd usually put a couple of drops of synthetic oil and it would be good to keep it from corrosion or regular dino oil turning bad over time.

 

cool, thanks tony, also do you think a 1/2 inch npt drain hole is sufficient for a c26? and what is the best oil psi to feed it with on a 1/8 npt?

and do i need to water cool it? if so where should i tap and drain into?

 

1/2" NPT will be a good size to go with. A line 1/2" ID or larger would be good as well.

You shouldn't have any excessive oil pressure issues on a stock 3VZ motor... A -4AN oil feed to the turbo should work without any problems. And for the usual oil drain FAQ's, make sure there is no kink in the oil return line, try to keep the return sloping at a downward angle and avoid using tight angle 90deg fittings.

I tapped the coolant from the throttlebody coolant line... It runs through the throttlebody/IACV and then to the turbo and back into lower intake manifold
