I have an issue I am trying to use a USB stick and the system does not see it. I contacted Toyota and the dealership I got nowhere.
Can someone help?

Id probably start by trying a different usb to see if thats the problem or the car/port… and try that original usb in a different device and see if it works…make sure the files are supported file types for the car… go from there

If multiple usb wont work, check the fuse for it in case its just blown

The answer to your question is in the manual. READ YOUR MANUAL!

There are particular types, sizes, and formats that can be used for the vehicle to recognize and use the USB drive.

Here is the dilemma that I experienced.

The USB Type-C drive needs to be formatted as FAT32.

Currently, most USB Type-C drives are only available with a capacity of 64GB, or larger.

But, most modern computers don't allow USB drives, with a capacity greater than 32GB, to be formatted as FAT32.

So, I ended up downloading a third party software program to my computer (which I don't like doing).

The program allowed me to format my 64GB USB Type-C drive as FAT32.

I also don't think that the capacity of the USB drive can be any larger than 64GB.

But, I'm not 100% sure about that.

Hope this helps.

I have the same issue, nothing helped. Tried 10 diffetent usb sticks, formatted in fat32, fat16, exfat, from 2 to 32 gb, even tried new wire, notjing helped, but usb stick diod is blinking, that means that there is power in the usb. Anybody knows how can I flash corolla e210 panasonic multimedia without inserting usb stick in multimedia usb socket? And there is another usb white socket on the back side of multimedia? It is not connected to anything. May be it will work? But there is different type on socket, cant find adaptor to that. Ty

I have found that when using FLAC files, that there is a regular burst of static every few minutes, very annoying. Unfortunately mp3 files are the only way to get around this that I have found.

I had thought about trying a power injector arrangement to see if maybe there was an issue with the supply, but there shouldn’t be at those low levels.

The popular low-profile Sandisc Cruzer drives will work but will require that the usb input is reestablished whenever the ignition is cycled (car turned off/restarted. At least that has been my experience.

Is sad that Toyota, Matsushita or whoever designed the stereo couldn’t get it to do things that $10 epay playback devices can accomplish.

I went with a small, down- or up-angle usb-c to usb-a adapter and just used a regular 32gb usb-a drive and this works just fine - formatted fat32.
