USB Port Behavior

Does anyone use the USB port(s) as a primary power source versus charging (an example might be a dash cam)? And if so have you experienced any random inconsistencies in the power?

My '18 HL would, on occasion, have a fluctuation or drop (haven't figured out which) in the power level causing an attached dash cam to restart and I ended up using the 12V socket instead. That wouldn't be as convenient in the Venza given the location of the 12V.

Thanks...

...1 for dash cam no issues...
Which camera? Some are more sensitive to power fluctuations than others (cameras with internal battery are much more tolerant).

If you're going to use the power port for a windshield-mounted device, check this out & keep your dash plugins for other dash-mounted or hand-held devices.. Naponal DashCam 7Pin Rear-view Mirror Power Adapter & Connecto7r Important: You must have a power connected, auto-dimming mirror, otherwise the adapter cannot be installed. Carefully check the number of pins & the exact configuration of your car's auto-dimming mirror connector plugin power port B-4 ordering. • This adaptor ("dongle") allows you to tap 12v power from the female rear power port plug of your 2nd Gen Highlander's auto-dimming rear-view mirror. • Convenient & easy-access USB plugin connectors are both suitable for any type compatible dashcam, mirror camera, GPS, radar detector, aftermarket TPMS monitors, sonar parking assist monitors & other similar USB-A wired devices, etc. • Will not work with devices requiring 12V power through an RCA-type plug in connector. • This Naponal Adapter allows simple plug & play installation. • Adapter helps keep most wires perfectly hidden above & behind the rear-view mirror. • No unnecessary installation cables or unsightly connecting wires hanging down from above to distract from driving safely & otherwise be in your field of vision.. • Adapter kit includes (2) 5V2A max USB charging adapters with your choice of using one or both. • (1) 5" USB micro, mini & type-c charger cable are also included. • I have included several photos to help see what it looks like on & behind the back side of my 2010 Toyota Highlander Hybrid mirror with my windshield-mounted Garmin Mini 2 DashCam connected to the Toyota OEM auto-dimming rear-view mirror • Photos of the windshield area behind the mirror B-4 & after installation are to show you what it looked like during installation process.

Updating my own post to report that after 3 weeks of using the rear seat USB ports to power my cameras I've had no issues - so safe to say the USB output is adequate, and stabile enough, to power an SGGCX2Pro+ front and rear cameras.
