Hi,

My 2010 Camry SE 2GR-FE v6 just rolled 38,500 miles and threw code P0057 which references the heater circuit for the bank 2 sensor 2 oxygen sensor. I did some research and found out the following information. I just figured I'd post it here to consolidate.

Except for states that abide by California emissions, the warranty covering this issue is 3years/36K miles. (My dealership did not extend any "gratis" to me for being so close. They weren't expected to.)

Bank 2 on a Camry 2GR-FE is the bank closest to the radiator. It is also referred to as the "left" bank when ordering parts.

Sensor 2 is the sensor after the catalytic converter and is accessed under the car.

In my research, I found that P0057 was for the "heater circuit" and that it could have a few possible fixes. During my repair, I disconnected the sensor entirely and still only got P0057 when driving (approx 350 miles). I then disconnected Bank 1 Sensor 2 and got code P0037 which also references the "heater circuit" for B1S2. I was expecting to retrieve additional codes (i.e. P0161, sensor failure) when I disconnected the sensors entirely, but I did not. I decided to replace B2S2 as my first measure. It seemed to me to be the most direct action to take.

The Denso replacement part # for the Bank 2 Sensor 2 is 234-4260. This part will come with the correct connector for easy installation. The dealership wanted $155 for the part. I found it online at Rock Auto for $60 shipped.

I hooked it up, cleared the code and reset the check engine light via my Ultra-Gauge, and have been driving (approx 100 miles) with no trouble.

I hope this information is useful.

All,
I changed the sensor myself with a Denso Sensor, The CEL went off after 50 miles, thought I have it fixed. It came back again with the same code in maybe 20 miles and now keeps doing it every 40-50 miles. Thought the sensor that I may have bought was bad and got another one and replaced it. Same output. CEL turns off and on every 30-50 miles. Any suggestion what might be wrong?

If you've replaced the sensor then the first thing I'd suspect now is a fault in the wiring to/from the sensor or the connector. The fact that it is exhibiting as an "on and off" code makes me suspect there's a break in the wiring that's not quite complete and where it makes contact for a while, then you hit a bump that causes the disconnect, then you hit a bump that completes the connection again (lather, rinse, repeat). This could be at the connector contacts, too, if it's not being held very firmly in place.
