Not too fond of the color of the truck. I'm really interestedin seeing how the V8 fits in the engine compartment. Any idea what size V8 it is?

Also, here's the article. :D

Toyota's Tacoma V-8 Incross concept truck combines several new design components and a unique color scheme with V8 power to offer a new look with added passenger room, utility, and performance capabilities. The first use of Toyota's 271-horse/4.7-liter, i-Force V-8 engine in a Tacoma boasts 313 lb-ft of torque, which equates to plenty of motivation for the Incross. It's equipped with Toyota Racing Development (TRD) headers and custom dual exhaust by Tube Solutions.

The Tacoma V8 Incross sports a unique look, combining the Tacoma's Access Cab with the Double Cab's short bed on a smaller frame. A custom front grille, bronzed headlamp treatment, and skid plate provides the Incross front end with a dynamic look. Modified fender flares and matte green paint complete the exterior modifications.

BFGoodrich All-Terrain tires are mounted on 17-inch American Racing Wheels. Custom Bilstein shocks help handle the added performance capabilities of the Incross.

The interior features bronze trim with seats and floor customized by Fast Ed's Interiors and accessory pedals by Toyota, as well as an FJ Cruiser-styled steering wheel. A Gentez back-up camera, Scosche double-DIN radio bezel, and JBL Premium Audio with Toyota factory navigation system complete the interior.

The Incross is fitted for outdoor adventure with Santa Cruz Nomad mountain bikes and camping gear from Bass Pro Shops.

How can you say it's not practical?
Dodge puts a V8 in their Dakota.

I WANT A V8 in my taco.

I wouldn't think the fuel mileage would be too bad, it's just that much more muscle to get you off the line.
Because if they put a V8 in the taco, they would be competing with the tundra sales. Companies don’t like competition, esp. with themselves..haha, although I’d LOVE a V8 in my taco.:naughty:

The color is neat because it is different. Its very possible, the v8 is in the 4 runner so we all know it will fit in the tacoma. I just think that Toyota wants to have the Tundra and Tacoma both with v8's. The sale of the Tundra may suffer b/c many buyers who want an 8 might not want the huge ness of the Tundra.

The same reason I bought a v8 Dakota instead of the Ram a couple of years back.

Since the new Tundra now has the 5.7L V8, I don't see any reason why Toyota shouldn't put the 4.7L V8 in the Tacoma like the 4Runner. Fuel economy won't be that different, and the extra torque would be very nice.

I just noticed a few other items regarding this Incross vehicle...1) They have hood struts installed versus the stock prop we all have. Wonder why Toyota cannot include that as a stock item on all Tacos? 2) Don't really like how they ran the dual exaust straight out the back. I would prefer it went out one side or both.

If the problem with putting the V8 in the Tacoma is that it would compete with the Tundra, then how can a V8 4Runner be explained? Does it compete with the Sequoia?

More to the point, how can the 4Runner have a V8 and not the Tacoma? Same frame, right? I think I know why:

4Runner V6 4x4 curb weight: 4320
Tacoma Reg Cab Manual V6 4x4 curb weight: 3615
Tacoma DC Auto V6 4x4 curb weight: 3965
Tacoma DC SB Auto V6 4x4 curb weight: 4090

The V6 4Runner weighs almost 10% more than the heaviest Tacoma (excluding DC LB)
