Waited how long?

Hello,

I am just wondering how long people had to wait for the dealer to find out when the specific Venza they requested (ie, color, engine, package) was to be produced after they ordered it? I just need to get mine before the start of Aug.

Thanks

Derek if you ordered yours locally (NV) I can let you know that I ordered from their Surrey dealership.
My order was placed Feb 6 for V6 AWD JBL/Nav. Near the end of Feb my salesman advised that the build date would be March 17th and then within a week he advised me it was sometime in April. I talked to the Sales Manager mid March as I was concerned I was bumped and he showed me on his computer my venza with his Order # and plant # and the scheduled build date was Apr 18. There was a 3 week production delay over Xmas that set back the schedule, and then there were further shut downs during March. The plant seems to be back to working 5 days a week for the last few weeks.
On April 12 my salesman lold me the car was built on Apr 7 and would take 4 weeks or so to get here to the wet coast. I now have a computer printout that says ETA is May 18 and is on time. My salesman says it could be earlier if they can get it pulled. Its looking like 10 weeks from order to pickup but I think 12 weeks may be the timing for recent orders.
I think supply in Western Canada is short and the dealer is looking at where he can modify his pre-orders to satify customer orders an may need some pressure from you to move you up the line. Just my thoughts - I can wait three more weeks (my wife can't). Cheers Michael

I confirmed my Venza was built on APril 6th as scheduled..... from there it was shipped by rail to the NJ depot and has been sitting there for about a week waiting for a truck to transport it to So. NH.

I am told that the '10 Camry rollout has taken priority over other deliveries...... the original order was placed at the factory on March 17th.... order-to-build cycle was good.... factory to dealer delivery cycle seems to be protracted..... The latest ETA for delivery to my dealership is May 1st..... ?????

Thanks for all the reply's.

I actually ordered through the Kelowna dealership (even thought we live in N Van) because we know someone there. We didn't get a killer deal or anything because of the demand out here, but its been about 2 weeks since we put a deposit down and they still haven't been able to tell us a time frame yet. I am not in a super rush right now, but we want to get it by or before the end of July because of a road trip in Aug. So i am just hoping they are not waiting or anything and its just they haven't seen the production list yet. From reading everyone elses posts, it seems to be anywhere from a few weeks to a couple of months of taking delivery of there car.

Yours will most likley be built along side mine tommorow. I ordered a V6 AWD (JBL/NAV) in late March too. Since the vehicle hasn't been built yet, your dealer cannot provide you with the VIN. Lets hope the shipping is quick; it might take about two or three weeks to get to you in B.C. - so you'll probably have yours for the long weekend!

I ordered mine Venza /V6+JBL+NAV/ March 5 2009. ETA is planned for last week of May. Friday, 24 of April I visited the dealership and they told me, my Venza is shipped from Kentucky to TORONTO by rail /WHY????? - I live in Calgary!!!!/ and from Toronto the dealer in Calgary will get it by May 11. I do not understand why this shipment has to make 5 - 6 thousand kilometers extra. Who pays for this trip??? My salesman had no explanation.

Has your Venza been built yet, or is it just being held at one of the Toronto ports? Did your sales rep give you a build date and/or VIN for your Venza? Is it supposed to arrive in Toronto on May 11th or at the dealership for May 11th?

Toyota has to ship out as many Venzas as they can as quickly as possible, so they ship them northbound to Michigan (adjacent to the I75), from there on it's shipped to it's destination from Southern Ontario.

It probably has to do with the location of the Camebridge and Woodstock plants (Ontario), considering the vehicles built there rely on the same rail transit system to trek throughout the country.

Still waiting..........

i guess next week at the earliest :(
My build date was Apr 7...but i guess takes longer to ship to Toronto than NH
Would take longer to Vancouver - My build date was also April 7, so it would be interesting to see the actual difference between our delivery dates, if you care to let us know when you get yours. I assume that we are on the same train to Toronto and then mine will continue Vancouver. Cheers

I am hoping someone might be able to confirm how the process works when a dealership doesn't have the Venza\package spec you want. Do they basically wait until the next production list is available from Toyota, see if the Venza\Package we are looking for is on it, then order it?

I am not sure if because we want a Grey or black, V6 AWD and the Premium Package that it might take a very long time.

Also does anyone have suggestions on a decent dealership to work with in the Lower Mainland, BC.

Thanks

If the dealer doesn't have the model you want in stock then you would proceed to place an order. Since you're looking for a Premium Package, there's a slight chance there could be one laying around at one of the ports. If not, be expected to wait patiently. As of late the waiting list for a V6 AWD is approximately twelve weeks.

Realistically, if you want the really vehicle it's definitely worth the wait. Twelve weeks really isn't a long time to wait considering you'll probably be driving the vehicle for a minimum of three years.

hey all....

I haven't put many miles on the new ride BUT I can tell you - it IS definitely worth the wait!

The ONLY negative thus far is the low visibility from the passenger-side mirror. It isn't he size - it's the high belt line.....ya can
t seem anywhere near ground level.... had this problem on the 06 RAV4 we have.... remedy as/if to place a small convex mirror on the rear view mirror..... Also, I got the back up camera - VERY glad I did......

Your wait WILL be rewarded......

I was at the dealer at the end of March and they had a V6 AWD with nav. It was gray? They had a few others but there didn't seem to be a shortage of venzas around..

After the new model rollout with the overloaded high MSRP Venzas, they've been shipping a lot of base I4 FWD models on the lots..... the Fully loaded AWD 6-cyle are aging on the lots.... some for up to 3-months.... it appears Toyota marketing found out (a little backward viewing/planning???) that the market is mostly at the lower price tier while some are willing to move up into the higher cost pkg's.

I'm not sure about this, but it seems almost as if some dealers (DVT) just get a monthly shipment of their ordered vehicles. VenzaYaris, do you know when your Venza actually left the factory? If it was after April 30th I might run into you during delivery! My sales rep told me to expect it by Mothers day at the earliest, I'm not so sure if I should get myself all excited yet!

doncha just hate the wait...... I have only put 50 miles on it since I got it last week.... been busy with major home construction projects.... been playing with the features during free moments..... like programming the homelite garage door opener, radio, console settings and just all around familiarization.... The mistress will like this: the Owner's Manual is very comprehensive - more fodder for her quotations....

As I mentioned before - it is very much worth the wait....

No worries.. she is still working off the Vega manual ;) And you are right, the wait has been brutal. Just got my VIN today so things are looking up!

Welcome to the waiting club :)

I think the factory is running 5 days per wk now (instead of 4 or sometimes shutdown for the week)

I stopped checking the production schedule after i got my VIN

(and looks like toyota is updating that pdf more frequently/weekly now)

Man!! I don't know what's going on with the dealer where i've ordered my Venza from. I ordered a V6 AWD with Nav on April 1st. At the beginning, the dealer told me that they should have a better idea when I could have the car, then i waited for 1 full month, and just email the dealer and asked them for the status of my order. They told me they're already put in a rush for my ordered, and my car maybe will be produced in the 2nd round of production. (what ever that means) and i might have to wait another 8 weeks!!!! I tried to ask for the VIN or the estimated production date, and they havn't reply me back.

ecmiyake: I've been there and I know that we have different dealers - I got some action by inadvertently going to the dealership when my salesman was off duty just checking status of mine and another salesman said "easy, just come to the sales manager's office". I sat down with the sales manager and explained my situation and he said that they don't like giving out dates coz they are subject to delays in production (and the client gets upset). Eventually he showed me his computer screen and my car with my name on it, there was no VIN# but there was an order # and a plant #, and he told me the build date was to be April 17. I had the opportunity to change salesman but I told him that I committed and would see it through for now. He offered his further assistance if needed. Te car was built April 7th. In your case the production rate appears settled and perhaps you can get further information. Good luck - Michael

It's nice to hear I'm not alone out there waiting... I purchased my Venza (Classic Silver V6 AWD Touring) from DVNT on March 12 and was orginally given a 5-9 week ETA... I called last week and spoke to my salesperson and he told me that new cars take "12 weeks" to be delivered and would call me in advance so I could set up my insurance. There was no build date or any other specific piece provided... but he did tell me to tell all my friends to go to him .
