I have own a 2012 Highlander with a little over 108,000 miles. I just replaced the rear brake pads and I am getting a whirling noise when I go around corners and sometimes when I drive straight at low speeds. It seems to be coming from the right rear wheel local. I felt the hubs, they were not substantially hotter and my buddy says it doesn't sound like bearings. Any takers?

My bet is on the debris shield being bent slightly with the brake change, and contacting the rotor slightly when loads change in curves.
Look for drag marks on the shield or just bend it away some and see if it stops.

I found the culprit, it was a spring in the E brake that had come loose. Sorry I wasn't more specific in the description. Thanks to those who commented.
