Do you know what kind of speakers come stock? or are they pretty cheap offbrand toyota speakers?

You said the dash speakers are 2". I looked all over amazon, there was no such thing as 2"?? There was just 3.5"-6.5"

 

they are 2" "high power" tweeters.

3.5" will fit in the dash. Measured the speaker from hole to hole and its about 4 1/8 inches.

 

according to crutchfield.com, 6x9s wont fit in this vehicle. im assuming they are wrong?

 

I got 6x9 pioneers in my doors. you will need adapters though.

This info came directly from Toyota. The standard Entune as well as Entune w/NAV have the same speakers.

 

Yup. I don't know about yours but every time I got to crutchfield all they have is data for the rear deck. I dotn think they completed all the research for the 7th gen yet.

 

So is it safe to say that if i replace the 6 speakers i would need to purchase an amp to get the best quality out of the aftermarket speakers? Or will the stock head unit produce a good quality sound?

 

what is "a good sound" for you?
I got sound deadener on front door and rear deck and old 4 way 6x9 pioneers in doors and stock "plastic" rears are good for me and It's sound better than Gen 9 accord or Gen 6 Camry system.

 

Stock head unit has built in crossover points to make factory speakers sound good. You need something to flatten the signal if you want your aftermarket speakers to perform adequately. I started a thread about my custom stereo and included a parts list along with a youtube video about it. Search my username to find it.

Adapter plates can be used for 6.5" and 6x9's in the doors. I also used adapter plates to mount 1" tweeters in the dash. Factory speakers are carp. Any questions just let me know.
