So I was at the junkyard (as usual) salvaging wire when I came across a nice piece of wire. I traced it into the trunk and found it was connected to the striker. I thought it was an aftermarket remote trunk release solenoid.
I came home and looked at my Corolla and found the same thing. I thought that it's a sensor, so I sat in my car and popped the trunk and listened for a chime to sound or a light to come on. Nothing happened though.
The trunk release is located on the deck-lid, so the wire isn't there to power a release. Also, it's wired to a spring loaded switch, so I really think it's a sensor of some sort.
Can anyone tell me WTF this is?

I shone a flashlight in there so you can see the wire too.

What is it man?!
