Maybe that circuit is shielded? Check it for continuity to ground. If that is signal shielding then it will be grounded.

The connections are getting butt connectors. And yes the aluminum wire is shielded, but what do you do with it ,do you just make sure it is insulated separately

 

I'm not sure which butt connectors you plan on using but I highly recommend that you do NOT use these

And get some of these heat shrink connectors, then use a lighter or preferably a heat gun to shrink it and achieve best water resistance to keep your connections from corroding.

Far as the shielding goes, it doesn't get terminated anywhere on the connector side. It is just simply wrapped around the signal wires.

I used heat shrink butt connectors and a heat gun. May have overheated them but they are sealed. Dont know about the quality of my labor
