What kind of tires do you have on your Toyota Camry?

I procrastinated a bit on replacing the factory Bridgestone tires. Mine were pretty bald. Managed to get 28000 miles out of them, which is by far the worst mileage I've ever gotten out of tires, especially when rotating them on schedule.

Finally went Friday night and put a set of Goodyear viva 3 on my camry. What a difference. I've read alot of complaints about the bridgestones, but I didn't think they were that bad. However, having the good years on now, I can totally feel the difference. The biggest difference I noticed was the traction. Even on dry roads, these made a huge impact. Ride quality was a bit better but not a huge change. Well worth the money

Michelins were about 175$ a piece for 215 55 17, I paid 90$ per tire for the Goodyear. They are not the best that good year makes, but they are night and day compared to the factory bridgestones

The dealer wanted 650$ for the same set that came factory, they can go fly a kite

Hankook Optimo H724. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Hankook&tireModel=Optimo+H724 Truly the softest and quietest riding tires available. Also inexpensive. 95% of Camry owners cannot comprehend why an inexpensive tire could also be the softest riding and quietest available. This makes Pirelli and Michelin executives giggle all the way to the bank as they watch most Camry owners pay alot extra for their harder riding and noisier tires.

Do you have any info on that? I have 1300 miles on my 16 TCH XLE and these Bridgestone tires are the noisiest worst riding tire I have ever seen! I am considering ditching them now.. This is the second new car I've gotten a nail in the tire with 300 miles on it (only two times I've had a nail in a tire in at least 15 years).. So I don't think they are worth much with a plug in one but I would love to put the softest quietest nicest riding tire I can.. Money isn't as important as getting the best one.

Your option makes it simple and eliminates the need for additional programming. However, I decided against this approach since there are a few end cases where you will have difficult time finding the offending sensor or sensors. For example, while in the garage or proximity of other wheel set: 1) TPMS sensors from both winter and summer tires could be triggered; 2) TPMS sensor or sensors from winter could be triggered when you are running summer wheel set or vice a versa.

While I have purchased many tire brands over the years, I do have an affinity for Michelin tires. However, when I replaced my 2014.5 Camry SE factory Bridgestones at 11,000 miles, I decided to purchase Pirelli Cinturato P7 + tires. In fact, I simultaneously put Pirelli Scorpion Verde + tires on my wife's CR-V which was sporting factory Conti's.

They were cheaper than Michelin's, had double rebates on them from Sams and Pirelli, and had generally great user reviews from Tire Rack, Toyota forums, etc. After some 20,000 miles, they are still a great all around tire. Excellent on dry surfaces, still good traction on wet roads, etc. They do have a firm tire compound and it wears exceptionally well so far. The road manners on the highway are excellent. I got into a heavy snowstorm/black ice with them in Feb 2016 on a trip near BNA and I was really surprised how well they did. I also have 27 years experience driving in those conditions from living in Michigan previously.

Other tire brands that I would strongly consider are Continentals and Cooper. The Coopers are reported to be a great price point and an excellent tire. I can get Conti's cheaply thru a family discount, so there's that...

Lots of good choices, but any top rated tire should perform well for you on a Camry. After all, most folks do not push their Camry's to the limits of their tires performance. As always, YMMV.

of all the big brands Cooper is the one i would avoid at all costs. I have seen at least a half dozen blowouts where the tire tread destroyed the fenders. Never giving it much thought till i bought a Nissan pickup with cooper tires and had the exact thing happen with zero warning. The cooper i bought to replace it was defective with a chunk of metal moulded into the tread, they caught it when trying to balance it.
How they are even legal is beyond me. I bought one car after that with brand new coopers on it and before i went through the first tank of gas the tires got replaced.

Thanks for the info guys! I live in SoCal so quiet and best comfort are the two most important things for me.. Something just tells me from how loud these tires are and how they make such loud noises over bumps that a good tire will ride much smoother, these tires seem like junk! Out of all these tires which are best comfort and most quiet? Thanks!!

Our ’15 Camry LE was delivered with Firestone Affinity S4 (P205/65/16). They were delivered with 10/32 tread depth (I checked). Though they seem quiet on nearly any pavement and handle fine for everyday driving (read responsible), at the 5k Toyota service however they were already one RCH below 9/32 (I checked again). At that rate they’ll be lucky to make 30k at 3/32. Not so good for a 50k tire.

But speaking of Coopers…. I put a set of Zeon RS3-A on the daughters Mazda 3S with (P205/50/17). They were delivered with 10.5/32 tread depth (I checked). They perform well and little girl drives it like she’s at the go-kart track (Zoom Zoom you know). They are rotated every 5k, currently have 33k on them, and have tread depths at 6.5/32 remaining across the board (yes.. I put SPC adjustable control arms on the rear… and took one Zoom out). At this wear rate they should easily make 50+k at 3/32. Pretty good for a 40k tire I’d say… even on a very light car.

Just Sayin’….Dave

cooper zeon rs3-a for the three seasons. Hankook ipikes on the winter wheels.. both perform great and wear great so far.. couldn't believe how much better the coopers were than the factory junk that came on it..

That's how I feel! These tires make thunk noises over everything and ride like crap!! I have an LXE and I feel like I can feel every crack in the road! I know it's the tires being hard and cheap from how loud they are. Out of all the dozens of cars and sets of tires I've owned I've never hated a brand new set of tires so much I'm considering replacing them!

I can't wait until I can change mine. Currently riding on Bridgestone Turanza. Second crappiest tires I've driven on. First is Bridgestone RE050.

I'm looking between the Nitto NT555G2, Motivos, or Toyo Proxes T1R.
