Here's the deal.

I'm gonna get about $2,000 later this month because of a mess that happened with my computer, but you don't care about that.

The thing is, I don't know if I should sell the Camry and try to get about $3k for it (it has 214,000 miles already) add the $2k to that and my dad will probably give me aout $500 and buy a 95+ Prelude or Integra with those $5,500 or if I should just take those $2K and keep modifying my car. With those $2K I would probably get the RIPP Mods header, springs, rims, and I don't know how much a paint job would run me.

HELP ME.

The car just spent the two months I was in Georgia in the shop. Getting an oil leak fixed, which ended up in about $600. New water pump, new oil pump, new retainers, new timing belt, and pretty much the whole engine was rebuilt. The engine dying on me or any major problems regarding the engine is not really on my mind because the mechanic that worked on it did a really good job and it doesn't have any leaks at all. Well, except for a tiny power steering leak that I'm gonna get fixed this week, but it's nothing serious.

If I'm going to have a Camry it will be a Gen 3, no other gen for me right now.

What I've been really thinking about is that I've only seen 3 modded Camry's around here, one of them only had tinted windows and rims and the other one had rims and smoked out tail lights and headlights. I want to be the kid with the Camry that everyone looks at and thinks that they've never seen a Camry like it.

You're still young, unless you come across money like that often, i would just save it. Once you grow out of your car phase you'll wish you didn't spend money on stuff like making your car another shade of blue, making it an inch or two lower, things like that. Not to mention if it gets stolen, you will get only a fraction of what it was worth since it's an old car.

I can't really imagine having any money at all and not spending it on the car I have in the future. It's something I REALLY enjoy, and even though I don't know much about cars I love to spend money on my car, because right now it's the only thing that I have that I can say is mine. If I keep the car, I have to get the springs and struts anyways because mine are blown. So I might as well drop the car if I'm going to spend the money anyways on the parts.

take the LUDE    ....that'll just leave me with one less camry to compete with haha. jk

i'd keep the camry, there's notihing like being different, almost every prelude i see is modded (same goes fot the crx's :disappoin so wierd) and don't get me wrong, i love the prelude's, it's really my only favorite car produced by honda, but still i'd stick with the camry.

btw, i almost bought a 99 prelude (really good condition) but im really glad i didn't, i love my camry toooooo much.

Sell the camry and get another car, You mentioned your car has 214,xxx Miles with an oil leak, Need New water pump, new oil pump, new retainers, new timing belt, and pretty much the whole engine was rebuilt. Well these problems could lead to others. Do you know your mechanics well? they could be trying to Juice you out.

Well he's still a kid so i don't think the value of a new car, taking a kick in the nuts the second it leaves the dealership, is something he wants to face. But if you're putting more money into fixing your car than it's worth, obviously a bad decision. I think everyone is sentimental with their first car but don't let that drain your wallet. Do you pay for your insurance or do your parents? in fact, why not get a motorcycle or something. you can pick up a 250 for a lil under 2k

lol this thread is so funny
stop being his freakin financial planner!
If he wants to get a paintjob, mod his camry, or another car, thats what he wants!

Im not too sure how much prices varies but then a decent paintjob (not macco) around Calgary would set you back approx $2800ish CAD

IMO, trading your 94 camry + cash for a 95 Prelude just doesnt make sense
Unless you know of a super well maintained, you're just going to end up having the same problems as you are having now with your camry. Cause we are in 2005....oh wait...almost 2006....and that prelude is going to be 9 years old.

I agree with the previous post and save up some money for the unexpected since you say your car has problems and blow the rest on suspension and wheels

I agree with what some have said....there's no point in getting money and then dumping it all into your car.....spend a grand and save the rest or spend it on some other stuff....just cuz you have the money doesn't mean you should spend it....especially going around asking people what you should spend it on....it's YOUR money

but back to what you asked....no, you can't afford a good paint job yet stilll....and if it's not a GOOD paint job, it's not worth getting done...get some rims or something

pimp out your interior. makes no sense if your car looks nice on theoutside but you feel like you're driving an old japanese family car inside. you spend your time inside. makes no sense. kind of like pimping out your bedroom door when you only see it when you're comeing and going. = )

It doesn't have an oil leak, and it has all the stuff you mentioned new.

Insurance is not mandatory here in Puerto Rico, so I don't really have insurance.

A motorcycle isn't an option even though I would love one. The only way would be if I was living on my own.
