What's a 2x4?

This has bugged me for a long time, not specifically with Toyotas, but with lots of trucks. I know that a 4x4 is a 4-wheel drive. I know that 2WD is 2-wheel drive. But what the heck s a 2x4? I thought it was just something people had made up but I saw it in my Chilton's Toyota Pickup manual as well.

I think 2x4 is the way of saying 2WD with 4 wheels on the truck.

So that would make my Toyota Dolphin mini-motorhome a 2x6 since it has duals on the back. :thumbsup:

It would probably make it a 4x6. Power goes to the 4 rear wheels, 6 wheels on the truck together. :rofl:
