Exhaust donut? This is why lube techs aren't mechanics.

 

I had people call a certain style exhaust gasket a donut as well as a rubber loop that supports the exhaust system. Find out whats REALLY wrong or more details on what the other guy THINKS is wrong.

Easiest way to check is get under your car and see if there are any exhaust hangers missing. You should be able to tell, everywhere a hanger goes there's two pieces of metal sticking out that look like they should be joined.

 

I think we're talking about the donut-shaped gasket between exhaust manifold and the first segment of exhaust downpipe.

 

theyre gaskets most likely, unless your exhaust is rattling around under your car.

theyre cheap, and pretty easy to replace, as long as you have a jack and basic tools, a little strength goes a long way too

I'm thinking that's what it is. Do you know the diameter of the gasket I need that goes from the manifold to the exhaust pipe? Thanks.

An exhaust donut is a shaped ring "gasket" that goes between two flanges in a flexible exhaust joint. I think they were mostly used on older cars between the exhaust manifold and the exhaust pipe. Some mechanics still call any exhaust gasket a donut.
