Hey Nation. I went to get an oil change and the tech told me I needed a new exhaust donut. He told me it's a cheap part and it's easy to do. Do you know what size donut I would need for a 96 1.6L, and if anyone has ever changed theirs out any advice would be great, thanks.

Easiest way to check is get under your car and see if there are any exhaust hangers missing. You should be able to tell, everywhere a hanger goes there's two pieces of metal sticking out that look like they should be joined.

theyre gaskets most likely, unless your exhaust is rattling around under your car.

theyre cheap, and pretty easy to replace, as long as you have a jack and basic tools, a little strength goes a long way too

im replacing all of my exhaust gaskets, let me know if you have any questions

I'm thinking that's what it is. Do you know the diameter of the gasket I need that goes from the manifold to the exhaust pipe? Thanks.

An exhaust donut is a shaped ring "gasket" that goes between two flanges in a flexible exhaust joint. I think they were mostly used on older cars between the exhaust manifold and the exhaust pipe. Some mechanics still call any exhaust gasket a donut.

They look like this:
