Sup fellas. I just wanted to find out how good your gas mileage is. Before my turbo, I got 30mpg, now at 5psi I am getting 42mpg. (highway) Not too sure about city mileage, I'll have to check that out sometime.

I do use the Burien Toyota kit at 5PSI. I recorded the 42mpg from Alamogordo NM, to Taos NM on 91 octane. 300 miles on 1/2 a tank. Mind you, this was not on cruise control the whole way. There were lots of little towns, and long streches where I punched it (alot).gqdabien said:I only get 23 - 25 mpg! why so little? what turbo do u use? The Burien toyota one?
my 93 camry 2.2l with over 215K+ on the odometer gets an average 30 mpg 80% highway 20% local traffic. everytime i filled up 13 to 14 gallon would give me a cruise range of 400 to 450 milesI Race Mine said:when i was commuting from NE Sac to Stockton, 342 miles before a 13 gallon fill-up (26.3 mpg), all highway
Now that I just go from NE Sac to South Sac (Florin Rd), 300 before a 13 gallon fill-up (23.07), highway and surface street.
I found that it really made no difference what company's gas I used (New West, Chevron, etc) unless I went to Arco. Anybody else got the same experience???
First off, if you think I'm lying, screw you! Second, a turbo "runs," as you put it, constantly. I see boost at around 2000 RPM's and am fully boosting at 2500 RPM's. Put it this way, when normally driving up a hill using cruise control, gravity is exerted on the engine forcing it to raise RPM's to continue going the same speed. With my turbo, I now see a raise in boost, or decrease in vaccuum while the engine RPM's remain the same. And what determines how much fuel is needed? RPM's!Tercel GTS said:first off, the turbo shouldn't be running during normal driving, only under heavy acceleration.
Secondly, how can anything that increases the airflow, thus requiring more fuel, reserve fuel?
This I do not know for sure, but logic tells me no. A turbo spins idependently of the crankshaft giving you an exponential gain in power. A supercharger is ran in line with the crankshaft. The faster it spins; the faster the crank spins, giving you a linear gain in power.eecc said:if turbos improve gas mileage, do superchargers?
Theoretically, I believe the SC should improve gas mileage. However, in the real world...most ppl that have SC (or Turbo) aren't focused on fuel economy as their number one priority.eecc said:if turbos improve gas mileage, do superchargers?
But I can speed and drive agressivly and still get twice the mileage of a SuburbanPhi said:

My gas mileage took a hit after I got my SC. It's prolly do to the fact that I mash the pedal every opportunity I get. Secondly, the SAFC spits out more fuel too. Thirdly, any cost savings from fuel efficiency is lost to the premium grade gas that has to be used...but the whine and pull of the SC is well worth it
Fuel economy is heavily dependant on driving style. If you speed and drive aggressivly, don't expect environmental groups to praise you for your efforts![]()
Oh, hell yeah!!!But I can speed and drive agressivly and still get twice the mileage of a Suburban
Don't get cheap tires to "save money." I learned that lesson on my dad's 91 Accord. He bought the Sears Guardsman tires... seemed like a good idea. I drove it before the tires, nice grip. Those Guardsman (4/$100 US) couldn't get a grip on crazy glue. When I bought my gen3, the guy before me had put on Goodyear Viva2, which are the best tires I've ever driven on, besides the Potenzas on my dad's i35.I'm not having much trouble speeding and driving aggressivly with my car as is!!!
My tires are slowing my down. They are the $19.99 'special' econo tires and our 1989 Chevy Silverado can go FASTER that my Camry on a offranp (360-degree turn) because it has $200/each Michillines (sp?)
Anyway, new tires will make that car even better!
y do u want all season tires on your cam??kenratboy said:When these tires give up the ghost, I am not going to hold back. I still want (need) all-season tires, but there are some danm good ones out there.
Again, if the TRUCK can beat my car, there is something wrong - and its the tires.
Now, to decide what tires to buy...
