Where did you get your '08 TSB done?

Let's see if we can help each other out.

I am one of many with a 2008 Tacoma that is in need of the suspension TSB. The service manager I talked to says he cannot do it until Toyota approves it.

I let him know that the parts are identical to the 2007 and he agreed, but said it's out of his hands.

If you have an '08 and had the TSB done, can you post where you had it done and if possible, the service rep you dealt with?

That will help others in your area. I don't know how long it will be before Toyota adds the '08 to the TSB (which will happen eventually), so in the meanwhile, this can help us cut through the RED TAPE that we are going through.

Thanks!

Had my '08 TRD Sport done @ Valley Toyota, Hanford,CA...:D
Just call Toyota Corporate and explain about harsh ride and bottoming out and they will contact your local dealership. This is what others on the forum have done. Not sure why this happens, but each dealer seems to respond differently to the same TSB.

I have a 2008 DC TRD OR

Dealer - Superior Toyota - Parkersburg, WV

I spoke with the service manager on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 and told him I would like the Harsh Ride TSB to be performed due to the suspension bottoming out when I hauled loads over 300 lbs. I also stated that I felt it was unsafe to drive and that since an improved leaf spring pack is available it should be installed on the truck. No fuss...no muss. The parts were ordered that same day. I then got a phone call on Friday, January 25, 2008 from the service manager (Greg) saying that my parts are in. I am scheduled to have the TSB work performed on Monday, January 28, 2008.

For those getting greaf from the service managers...keep hasseling them until they do the work.

I was in Karl Malone Toyota in Albuquerque, NM on Thursday buying some accessories. I asked the parts guy if he knew if the '08s had been added to the TSB. He said he was pretty sure that they were doing the work and told me to talk to Anthony in service. I walked into the shop and told Anthony how I had loaded about 400lbs into my truck and it really seemed to sag. He told me, "no problem, let me get the parts ordered and I'll call you in a week or two." 20 minutes later he called my cell and said they had the parts in stock. I dropped it off at about 1:00 this afternoon and picked it up at 5:45. They did the alignment and just had to adjust the toe. I don't think the ride has changed and I don't notice any vibrations or funny noises. I hope all my visits to the service go this well!

Nice! Mine is at American Toyota here in Albuquerque as I write this.

I'll tell you guys, calling that corporate number really helped things along.

I called 1-800-331-4331. I talked to a representative who said she couldn't authorize it, but she would connect me with a senior rep. Immediately she put me on the phone with "Heather."

Heather was very nice and understood the problem and said that the dealership would be calling me to get it fixed within three days. She gave me a case number. Within an hour, I had a call from the customer service manager at the dealership, who hooked me up with a service manager.

I brought the truck in this morning and a different service manager who was very customer-oriented knew all about the TSB. He had the years and aspects memorized and he said they would do the work today.

My fingers are still crossed, because you never know what can happen, but I left there feeling like they were taking care of things.

...more news as it happens.

I just got off the phone with Toyota North America. The guy I talked to said it was a warranty-able item on a 2008 and somebody will be in touch from my local dealership within the next 3 days. My fingers are crossed.

UPDATE................. Right Toyota of Scottsdale refuses to fix it and Toyota NA refuses to help.

I am so pissed right now.

I had my 08 done at Karl Malone Toyota in Albuquerque, NM and now that I'm in a 09, they took care of that one too. All I had to do was call them up to set up the date & time. They even had the parts in stock.

I had mine done at Joseph Toyota in Cincinnati. It took a few weeks of fighting and a call to the dealership owner (we have bought 14 vehicles from him). I had to deal with the service manager b/c the service guy REFUSED to do anything for me. They said that they had NEVER had anyone come in with the spring problem...I found that interesting. If you are in Cincinnati, give Joesph a call and they should know about the problem now.

DON'T DEAL WITH RIGHT TOYOTA in Scottsdale! Yelling into a garbage can would yield a better result. I still have not got the springs swapped and I am pissed at them and Toyota North America. Who the hell wants a 1/4 ton truck?

I called Toyota Corp. and then a dealer.

Toyota Corp. says the SB does not cover the 08' but they would refer my request to customer relations. I then called a local dealer and the service rep says the 08' is not covered and that a part has to fail. I then told her that if the truck sags the springs don't have to break just that there is not enough of them or are weak. I think there is a fight brewing here.

A follow up to my previous post.

A customer rep called me from Doxon Toyota, Auburn WA. they had gotten called from Toyota North America. The dealer rep called me last friday and found out that I did have a need to get the TSB done. After talking to reps from Toyota North America they said they will do my 08'. How about that! The dealer worked for me to get the ok to get my truck done.

I got mine done at Smithown Toyota in Long Island NY. The guys there were really great. I dropped it off with the complaints of harsh ride when towing and shutter in wheel when I hit 60 mph. They called me back later and told me I am getting a brand new set of springs that will correct the towing problem. They told me that if I want to leave the truck, it would be done the next day. I picked it up the next day and got the new leafs, 4 tire wheel alignment and they reballanced the front tires, all under warranty. No fights, no questions, no problem. The truck now runs great. I can't wait unitl this weekend when I hitch up the trailer to see how much it drops compared to before. Prior I had less than an inch between stop and frame. The only kicker is being I have a TRD Sport, the old shocks remained but that is OK. I was extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with the truck when I first got it and towed my trailer. If it is like I think it will be when I hitch it up this weekend, the service guys at Smithtown has made another satisfied Toyota owner.

I had mine done at:

Mark Miller Toyota Downtown
730 S. West Temple
Salt Lake City, UT 84101

The work was completed in May of 08'....Long before the 08's were even included in the TSB. I took it in, told the service writer what was going on, handed her a copy of the TSB. Left the truck with them. Got a call later that day that said the parts were on order and I could come get the truck and bring it back when the parts came in. A week later I took it back, four hours later got a call to go pick it up! No hassle what so ever! (Again this was before the 08's were even included in the TSB) I am so glad I have a decent dealership near me!
