Do any of you have an 05 Tacoma DoubleCab that's a 6spd manual and 4x4? This is the truck I want, but there seems to be NONE!!!!! Well, there's one in Austin, and I am very willing to go buy it next weekend, but the thing is, I know it won't last that long. It's only 1 truck for all of Texas, hehe. I wonder why Toyota doesn't make more? I really hope I don't gotta wait a long ass time for one of these man,....so lame.

Man, they're sure to lose MANY customers cause of this. I'd rather go and buy a different make like ford or dodge than wait 2-3 months for new trucks to come in,..that's TOO damn long. Man this sucks nutz!!!! I wonder how long it will take if you "order" one,..and if the dealership charges for it.

Call that dealer and get ahold of the fleet/internet sales dept or whoever you have been speaking to and give them a deposit over the phone w/a credit card. Or if they'll hold it for you go pick it up.

And you can only get the 6speed in the short bed too in case you weren't sure.

In the United States, Toyota has really cut down on the number of manual trans. that they offer in their trucks- the vast majority of the trucks that they now manufacture are auto's. Just look at the Tundra- the only manual trans. that they offer (with maybe a few very rare exceptions) are in the base 6cyl. model. I have never seen a 4.7 (v8) Tundra with a manual trans. Finding a manual double cab Tacoma 6cyl 4x4 is going to be damn near impossible- I don't even think Toyota offered the Tacoma double cab in anything but automatic until this year. Good luck finding one b/c I know I haven't seen anyone with one in Virginia!!

Especially, after owning my 05 Corolla XRS, I will settle for nothing other than Toyotas/Lexus in the future. Simple words, the perfectly balanced sport sedan in every respect. This car has sold me to Toyota. Toyota for life.

By now most dealerships have renewed their inventory of Tacomas several times over- almost all have been sold out of 2004 Tacomas for a while now. Most of them sold the last of the 2004 Tacoma 4x4's by Thanksgiving- it is a matter of Toyota getting everything rolling with production on the 2005 Tacoma's. Nearly all Toyota dealerships have a decent amount of 2005's in stock, the main problem is you are looking for a particular option combination that is not very "popular" (atleast in the view of Toyota) and therefore you will either have to order the truck and wait 3 months- or wait around (for probably much longer than 3 months) for one of your local dealerships to get a Double Cab 4x4 v6 w/ a manual trans. I think you will be better off to order it so atleast you will get all of the options that you want (i.e. chrome accents, TRD Offroad vs.TRD Sport). I know it sucks having to wait- but if you really want a manual trans on that truck, that is most likely what you will have to do. Sorry :disappoin

+1 on your post, I am trying to negotiate for a 6sp man doublecab, my dealer just wants $1000 deposit but does not write in the options about $2100, I negotiated a price for 4X4 TRD package #2 of 28,900 then she could not guarantee a JBL nor would she write down the options on the contract. I said why won't you write the options, she says "the car does not even exist yet". A lotta guys posted that the JBL was not worth $500, so I called her back and then mentioned about the $2100 in options( alarm, bed extender, lighted runningboards, JBL radio, mats, etc...) she still fires back "the car does not exist". I have heard problems on other boards about the paint, the JBL, and the tuning fork noise the skid plate makes at highway speed...wish me luck....maybe this has all been an internet fantasy.....

Autos sell better in the U.S.,probably because men need a truck their wives can also drive. But I know a few twenty something males who also never learned to drive a standard-sad. I recently had an automatic rental when my Matrix 5speed went in the shop to get a short shifter installed, and it was dull, dull, dull! IMHO people who can't drive a standard don't know what they are missing!

I just got first sight of the new Tacoma yesterday. It was a generic "appliance-white" model, 2x4, with some rather gaudy oversized plastic fender flares. I hope Toyota USA will get their sh*t together and offer these pickups with the manny tranny so I can afford a used one ten years from now!
