Auto or manual transmission?

If auto, does the gear selector light up fer the proper gear? Have you tried starting it in neutral? If the gear light isn't lighting up properly, it's most likely the neutral start switch. It can be rebuilt or you can spend about $100 fer a new one. ;)

Have you checked all yer fuses? Does this have an alarm system hooked up? If so, have you tried enabling/disabling it? ;)

Have you had the battery load tested? :D

Sounds like the battery...mine died all at once about two years ago. A few lights would come on, but there wasn't enough power left to even get the starter to click. It just went completely dead. A new battery fixed it right up.

If the gear selector lights are lighting up correctly or in Park or Neutral, it's most likely the switch. You can try cycling the gear selector a few times to see if it will make a better contact. There is a thread that shows you how to take the switch off and how to clean it. You might want to git some PB Blaster and hit the fasteners a few times now and let it do its job before you try to take them off the switch. ;)
