1/2" Wheel Spacer and extended studs: would it work?

I just installed 285/65r/18s on my 18x9 Monsters that have a 5.71" BS, +18mm os.

I already have 1/4" spacers and extended lug nuts which allowed my previous 265/70r18s to clear everything. But I could use another 1/4" with the 285s,

I know someone who could make up 1/2" spacers for me. Add extended studs and that combo should work. But I was wondering if it would be safe. I am wondering if the wheel studs could end up bending in that 1/2" gap between the wheel and the wheel hub. Any thoughts?

I don't want a 1.25"+ spacer because the tires would stick out past the fenders and I want to avoid that.

Thanks

The short and correct answer, even with extended studs, is that it would be unsafe (and not legal for on-road use). Hub centric spacers with their own set of studs are a bit safer, but still not legal, and are hard on wheel bearings and ball joints.
