I have a 2005 Camry SE 3.3L V6 built in the USA. I changed the rotors and pads both front/back about 2 years ago with EBC slotted rotors and Red Stuff pads. Yes, a little overkill, but I'm an aggressive driver and they've definitely saved me more times than I could count.
Jump to 3 weeks ago when I had to change the front pads. Took the pads off, and noticed that there was about a 1/4" slot of pad that wasn't worn down on both right/left pads. I thought this was rather...strange. So I ordered new EBC Red Stuff pads for the front, got the pads, and holy crap they were too small. I had to go to Autozone for new pads because the next day I was driving my kids to Long Island and didn't want to jeopordize their safety. So I went into Autozone thinking that the dealer sent me the wrong pads...turns out they had in their system the same small pads. Now I'm really scratching my head...turns out I have the same size pads as the Lexus ES330 or the 2006 with the 3.5L V6. I also know I need bigger diameter rotors as well (11.7" instead of listed 10.8").
Has anyone else had this problem with their '05 Camry SE V6? Or did Georgetown screw up and put different calipers on the car? I'm at a loss here...I'm more interested in solving this mystery than anything...I appreciate the help!
