The price is way too high. Taking into account that you have to do the 90k mile maintenance + tires, it should not be more than 8-9k max

I agree the price is way too high. But still need to know what engine before i give my advice and opinion.

 

@Hotmale: 9k would be sweet. But that guy is being quite stubborn. I hv been negotiating, he has come down to 11k so far.

Ok the waterpump/timing belt needs to be done. Spark plugs, valve cover gasket, crush washers etc need to be done in 10k, i'd do the accessory belt as well.

So those are if you go to the dealer, probably 1500-2000$ in maintenance bills.

Plus tires, brakes etc, IF they need to be done or haven't been done. Struts should be fine, you can do a visual to see if they are leaking, or have your trusted mechanic or Toyota dealer to do a once over.

But the two things i mentioned above will need to be done.

I'd say 9 is the very very top number. I personally wouldn't pay more than 7 to 7500.

But i can't see the car in person, condition etc. But 12 is way too high. You can get an 07 or 08 for that. (not that i would recommend it) This generation you are looking at is one of the best, if not the best.

I have an 02 and it has just over 135k miles. And it is running like a tank, very strong, i consider it "just broken in" I also abuse it on the track once or twice a year. :lol: But it is my baby and i baby it when not on track.

so, you can tell him to get the services done and you will pay his price, or start deducting 2-3 thousand dollars OFF his asking price..or...go someplace else....he needs to sell it.....if he don't budge..?? go away.....let him sit on the car for a long, long time.

you NEED the COMPLETE LIST of everything it has....

FWIW, I just bought an 04 Camry LE with 78K miles from a dealer for $7700 in really nice shape. I considered that a score here in NY from a dealer. The car was very clean.

also, location means a lot in book values..i am here on the east coast....don't know where you are from, but if its mid-west, or west coast..?? your values WILL BE different.

i bought my 02 camry 4cyl 120k in 2009 for $5k,(7 yrs old back then) also in philly, maybe used car price has gone up recently.
