The Owner's Manual gave under the dash on the driver's side as the location for the fuse box (the interior one). I tried to find it there by to no avail. Looked all the places I thought it would be.
Can anyone help me out?

Suggestions appreciated.

I have a 2005 Corolla. Sounds like it’s similar to your. I was just in mine not long ago. Fuse box: it is behind the instrument panel. To get to it you have to lay on your back or any comfortable position. Go all the way down to the brake pedal then look up in the ceiling. When you look up you will see plastic. Where the plastic ends you can stick your hand in and reach box. Any way for my car it was in the ceiling by brake pedal. On the corolla next left of the steering wheel is a coin drawer. If I take the whole thing out I can see the fuse box but can not access it. That is why I had to go through ceiling. Hope this help.

it's a weird location, under the steering wheel on the side directly behind your dash pocket... right behind the pocket door. Like bull6791 said, you have to get on your back or on the ground and look under the dash and you'll see the fuse box.

This video is for a turn signal flasher replacement, but it shows the back of the fusebox, you don't have to remove the pocket door but when he does, you see the fusebox from a profile.

ALSO, don't forget there's another main fusebox next to the battery in the engine compartment.

Its tucked underneath the steering wheels bottom trim theres a long piece that has the fuses diagram on it. I have to lay under on my back under by the pedals w/ a headlamp. Not much room...
