Hi All,

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between these rear shocks? They both show to fit my Sequoia based on trim details and VIN.

I am about to replace the rear air pneumatic cylinders and rear shocks as dealer confirmed that airbags are leaking and that Struts/Shocks are leaking fluid as well.. its odd bc I had just replaced the rear shocks in late 2017 with the part # 48530-A9490 from ToyotaPartsDeal, but when I was at the dealer parts counter, there were two options for the VIN and normally they would know which one by looking at the original shocks on the vehicle.. well those are gone already, so I don't have them to reference.

I just want to make sure I order what is correct, if anyone could provide any addl insight it would be greatly appreciated.

Did you verify your shocks are actually leaking. I would be extremely surprised that the rear shocks failed in 2 years, even with leaking airbags. Are you doing the work yourself?

Anyway, to answer your questions, on these the "higher" number refers to the air suspension.

So for you, these are the correct part.

48530-A9490 SEQUOIA; 4WD; MARK 48530AF060

The rear shocks are as follows:

48530-A9460 - 2WD Coil Springs
48530-A9470 - 2WD Air Springs
48530-A9480 - 4WD Coil Springs
48530-A9490 - 4WD Air Springs

If you plan to DIY, check out my air spring DIY and coil spring replacement notes:

Thanks for the clarification!

Yeah, they are leaking.. first shop that pointed it out was an Action Gator Tire in Ocoee, then Griffis Automotive in Groveland, now Toyota of Clermont.

I am baffled by it as well, but went ahead and ordered the 490s they are $60 each through McGeorge..

Still debating on trying to do myself or take parts somewhere to install.. dealer would have been $1600 parts and labor.. got the parts for $600 thru McGeorge, now just need to install and pray suspension issues are finally solved before compressor gives up.
