2008 HL Sport with power lock issues

I have a 2008 Highlander Sport and over the last year or so I've had some intermittant issues with the power locks not working properly with my remote. It started with the Driver's door not locking but all other doors would. Then it would be the Driver's side rear door not locking and I would have to do it manually. I had always assumed I had did something with the key fob that screwed it up because it seemed to be "corrected" if I played with the buttons on the remote by pushing and holding some of the buttons and it would randomly be "fixed".

Now, it just seems to be the Driver's side rear door not locking. I have also tried to use the main putton on the driver's door and also using the key to lock the doors but it still won't lock. I noticied that I also don't get the "beep" confirmation that the doors were locked with the remote that I normally got. I have also tried to use another remote with no luck.

I noticed today as I got to work that after I manually locked that door and then hit the button on the remote to lock all of the other doors that I actually got the "beep" this time. I was in a hurry so unable to confirm if it is working again or if maybe the "beep" only happens when all of the doors are actually locked or what. (anyone else know if this is the case?)

I have tried to search here and elsewhere on the internet and haven't had much luck. I have seen some other Toyotas having some issue with actuators but nothing that would explain why it seemed to bounce back and forth between both doors on the driver's side before.

The only thing I can think of to try would be to see if the passenger side lock button works for it, but I'm at a loss other than actuator(s) on the fritz.

Anyone else have any ideas??? Thanks for the assistance!!!

A couple of ideas. The body ECU monitors the door open/close state and also the door lock position. My first guess is that either a door switch or lock position switch is intermittent and the ECU is confused and refuses to allow one or more doors to lock.

I have a 2009 HL Sport and I too have this issue...it has been driving me crazy. I took it to the dealer and they have no idea what it could be without tearing the door apart. I was in a rush and just stopped in for an oil change that day.
This has been happening to me for about 6 months now...if my children are with me they are used to me saying "lock the doors by hand guys". When they are not with me I have to go around the car and see with door didn't lock when I pushed the lock on the alarm. It is always one of the back doors. The two front doors always seem to lock but no confirmation "beep" and my headlights will stay on for a little longer...about 10-15 seconds and then will shut off. When it does work and sometime is does but not very often it will lock ALL of the doors and I get the confirmation "beep".
It really is a pain.

I was good until last week, then it started happening again. I am due for an oil change soon and will have to have the dealership check it. Anyone know if it would be covered under the warranty? It was Certified Used when I bought it and am covered for 7 years/100,000 miles. Still only the rear driver's side door that's not locking/unlocking with the power lock buttons or the remote.
