Hey everyone,

So I have a 2014 Corolla LE with a CVT. The car has about 1500KM on it. I like the car, but wanted to know if I noise I am having is normal.

The car sounds like a jet is winding down, I notice it between 15km to 60 km, but it is most noticeable when I am coming to a stop. To hear it clearly I need to have my window rolled down. It is almost like a whining sound. I have looked online to see if anyone is hearing the sound, but the closest I could find is from 2014 Accord members with CVT's.

Also, this morning after the car was sitting for a about 24 hours in above freezing weather I started the car and heard a brief scraping/ grinding sound. Is that normal?

Thank you.

The whining sound is normal, that is the sound of the CVT transmission. You don't hear it at a stop because obviously you are not moving and the transmission is not being worked. I hear mine the most with the radio on low or off and driving around 5-35 mph. Above 40 mph, the sound of the road/wind/radio what not drowns it out.

Not sure about the second part, I live in sunny California.
