Did you ever service your transmission fluid for those 225k miles?

 

i bought it used. Toyota dealer says fluid is lifetime. Most people say do not replace the fluid if fluid has not been never replaced if no issues. i am going to drain some fluid and see.

 

Unfortunately the transmission does generate debris as I found out when doing a fluid and filter change on my daughters car at 110K miles. At double those miles and perhaps double the debris, looks like the magnets and filter/screen could not keep that debris out of the hydraulic computer, which is where I suspect those solenoids are located.

If it is debris related... no other causes, then...

I think at a minimum you will need to do this...

But you will need to go a bit further and take off the valve block and clean out all the circuits / solenoids (there is wiring in there). Refill, start it and see if it runs and drives.

If it does run, then do a couple of drain and fills (leaving the sump on) after about 1K miles.
Then plan on another drain and filter in say 60K miles.

If you are not up for this as a DIY project and your dealer won't do it, you will need to find someone who will.

how much labor cost for this procedure?

 

i am able to shift from park to drive and reverse etc... i am parked on the little slope when i shift to drive car rolls back acts like it is in neutral. I am trying to provide as much information as possible to diagnose the issue correctly.

i think recall is for hatchbacks.

a 2019 is a pretty recent car i'd bring it to the dealer to check if thats a recall or something. maybe they'll try to sell you a new tranny, though
