Hello all, new to the Forum. Recently purchased a 9th Gen 2025 Camry XSE. had the car 20 days, put 600 Miles on it and the panoramic roof has completely failed in the open position with the right side of the glass being sucked down into the track upon opening and hitting the front glass of the rear panel. Front panel is miss-aligned, jammed and stuck. LH aft corner is extremely high and RH aft corner is touching back panel The open and retract button is inop and the window shade button has a loud plastic gear clicking noise when pressed to operated. Does not move shade at all. cable is skipping the gears on the motor. From my research i have found that these are a giant maintenance task and a majority if not all of the internals in the cabin/headliner need to come out to even access. From what it sounds like is a misaligned or broken motor/ cable set. major internal failure. The Dealership has had the car since may 30th and have thrown in the towel to now reach out to Toyota for guidance. all covered under warranty, however brand new car 600 miles and if everything has to come out just to get access to the roof, would you keep it or right it off after it is fixed. Lemon law may apply also if they can not fix within timeline. Very unfortunate and beyond frustrated. Thoughts. I know there have been issues with the earlier Gens as well, but curious about the 9th gens and if anyone has had any issues? Thanks.

I definitely wanted all the trim features of the fully loaded XSE, EXCEPT for the panoramic moonroof. This to me is my biggest worry with my XSE. However, here in Canada, the XSE only comes fully loaded. There are no other XSE choices so if you get the XSE, you get everything that comes in the US Premium Plus Package (plus more). The only way not to get everything is not to get the XSE. I would have preferred the Prius approach which seems like a decent compromise for the mainstream, which is a moonroof that doesn't open.

@Hawkhound, let us know how much it ends up costing for the replacement.

Very troubling to hear this, and I’m sorry you are having to deal with it. I picked up my XSE with Premium Package this past Memorial Day. I’ve opened the sunroof twice and it sounds very clunky like something may be in a bind. On my prior vehicle which was a CR-V hybrid touring, the sunroof was very smooth, but I rarely used it preferring to just open the shade. I will likely just utilize the shade on my Camry as it is a major ordeal to get fixed.

Congrats on the new ride, but very sorry to hear about the headliner and unusual noises.
I drove my wife’s car yesterday and it was quite a pleasant experience, as it’s been a while since I last drove a Camry, my last time was when I ended a 2018 leased Camry XSE, Ruby Flare Pearl, now on my second Venza (‘21 & ‘24). This is her 3rd Camry in a row, always the SE trim level bc the price was right, she’s retired and couldn’t justify the cost for all the bells and whistles. But this time she got lucky and for a slight bump, $40. more per month she was driving away with a sweet new Camry. Now she can really appreciate those extra features that I take for granted and used to rib me about buying a TOTL trim level.
I just hope the Toyota reliability we expect with the Camry is still solid and these bugs/issues are far and few between.
Good luck and hope your gremlins get sorted quick.
