i have a 99 tacoma prerunner with factory manual mirrors (the kind you have to roll down the windows and reach out to adjust) and this has become a big time pain in the ass. i’m not sure if toyota made power mirrors for the’99s and i’ve had a hard time finding after market ones. any help that would point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated! thanks…

The big question here is do all the 99s have the wiring to preinstalled to support the power mirrors? I would guess they do as it seems Toy takes the common sense route and uses one harness for all as it is cheaper than having different harnesses for different trim packages. Still, I would down load the FSM for your truck ( http://www.ncttora.com/fsm/index.html ) and then pop open th edoor to verify the wires are there. If they are cool! If not it may be just as easy to find an after market set if you have to run all new wires for them.

I'm pretty certain the answer to that is 'No'.

For 2001 - 2004 Tacomas (after power mirrors became a factory option) the relevant wiring harness comes out to the ends of the dashboard and ends with connectors. There is no factory wiring for power mirrors from that point on out into the doors.

Look for a grey / red wire coming off your 15A cigarette lighter fuse. This is the wire / circuit reserved for power / remote control mirrors on the 2001+ models. See if there's an analogous wire in your pre-2001 harness - or rather, a pair of such wires, one running to each end of the dash near the kick panels.
