A Pillar Trim Removal

Hi Toyota Nation,

Sorry if I didn't search hard enough but I couldn't find a confirmed a-pillar trim removal for a 2014-2015 Corolla. I installed a dash cam and I tucked away as much as I could less the cross from the a-pillar to under my glove box. I would like to learn from others' experience so I don't noob the trim on my brand new corolla.

Thanks,
Charles

I didn't take a thing apart. I just pushed the wire inside the pillar cover, ran it along the dash in the corner, ran it along the inside of the door, down under the floor mat, and up to the power source.

Here are some pics:

Nice, I didn't bother hiding the wires or hard wiring it. Gonna wait until I get a Blackvue for the stealth install. So far this is how mine is. I just made a few loops around my rear view mirror to keep the wire in place.

I will hardwire it once I am confident I can pull trim off without damaging it.

I left the a-pillar wire like that because I am planning to hide the wire behind the trim and instead of laying it down on the black dashboard, I just draped it across the trim so that it would heat up less from the sun. (Now I know the dash cam is gonna be baked but I am preventing things where I can).

I ran the wire from the passenger side under the glove box (its literally a cereal box tab that you press to open the tray and u throw the wire on it and then u push it back up to close. I think specifically it is the cover for your pollen filter and AC fan motor since that's what I saw when I opened it). I just wasn't satisfied with throwing the wire under the rug so to speak.
Your pics are nice installs but I want the wire to be behind the a-pillar cover. Sorry if it's asking to much but just wondering if anyone's opened the a pillar before.

My bosses wife wanted a dash cam like mine so I had him go for a Falcon Zero by Incredisonic F-360. Pretty good and hidden away.

@hhm007

thanks for your help, I actually did what you suggested and now its pretty much tucked away. I hope I gave it enough slack and made it as straight as possible so that the wire doesn't split lengthwise at the bends.

Now I just need to figure out the correct way to get at behind my cigarette lighter so I can make a harness so that I can install a quick connect to hard-wire the dash cam. When I get that done I'll post pics of the wire harness.

Thanks

I was considering that camera but due to the American adhesive supporting my rear-view mirror I figured that it would be so heavy that it would cause the whole thing to fall off. I have a wide angle mirror clip on and that already makes my mirror shake. I also think having a dash cam stuck to the windshield will help preserve the unit in the event of a crash instead of it ricocheting and probably hurting someone. It's a very nice unit.

I got the sun shade specifically so my dash cam wouldn't be baked in direct sunlight, a side benefit is my car stayes a little cooler.

I don't plan to hardware mine because whenever I get a new car I'll just be able to pull it out and install it in the new car right there at the dealership before I drive off, just like I did with the Corolla.

I don't mind the wires so much, they're tucked away so well you barely notice them unless you're really looking, which is fine for me!
