Interesting setup. Then again this is the guy that begged amt to tune his car after tork for some reason couldnt tune his and trash talking the amt tune, going to the dyno with a slipping clutch and claiming no gains from the tune and then continuing to trash talk AMT, an untested intake that "works better than any other", and claiming that 2jracing parts are trash and they don't work.

Definitely the camry 2.5 could be a nice parts bin for us since the engine has similar design, we just need someone reliable to be willing to do testing. I think the best way to go would be what I did on my 8th gen and swap manifold, tb and injectors all at once and test if it all lines up properly. If not, then porting would be the next best step.

We really need a larger plenum to take advantage of the larger TB. To install the larger TB onto stock plenum, you also need a taper (aka spacer) that then narrows the intake back to stock, and with taper in place gains are negligible, if any. This guy explains it and shows it on dyno:

imagine the 08 xrs with the 2zzge lol
i hated my 2.4 matrix but, i did like the 2az-fe engine. (i think im the only one too) lol

can you still do motor swaps these days?
Got me confused: 2AZ-FE is a 2.4L, so you didn't like engine or something else about your Matrix?

Size wise, 2AR could fit under hood with some mods, but that would also require a matching transaxle and other components like mounts, drive shafts, knuckles, etc.

i hated the matrix but i did like the engine.

The engine had some really good features and made good torque for daily commuting. you didnt have to rev the crap out of it in order to get it moving.
off center crank
2.4L displacement
timing chain
off center crank
non low tension piston rings
piston oil squirters
squish combustion chambers
large volume intake manifold
VVT
tubular exhaust manifold

i hated the torsion beam rear sus, the EPS and lack of all steering feel, the open diff, the rev hang, the throttle lag/delay, the lack of all feel from the clutch, and the overall torque/throttle mapping...

it was a commuter car engine and it was good at that.

as for engine swaps, i was thinking more along the lines of keeping with the same generation.
going from a M20-fks to an A25-fks.

Ah, I get it, you had the beam version. I really enjoyed driving the Matrix with DWB, it came on 4WD and XRS specs. And TRD supercharger from tC could had been fitted onto MT XRS, pretty much was a straight up bolt on...

My 2009 didn’t handle very well until I forced the issue using some stiff suspension springs, nice tires. Trailing throttle oversteer was fun.
With an improved airbox, the car had a nearly identical power to weight ratio as an early ‘70s Alfa 2.0. Also had a very similar power curve (long stroke, high revving), so was still a very fun car even with the truck-like suspension.

Am fairly pleased with my stock 2022 SE, especially without the hacked ride quality of the old car.

I bet that Matrix was a nice car with irs.
