Hi,

what's the best way to do this? I'm not sure if the remote start capability is already hardwired in, or if I need to buy something like a Compustar kit.

Thanks!

the vehicle may already have remote start with the FOB. Press the lock button twice about a second apart and the press a 3rd time and hold it down and it might start. I bought a 2021 Corolla Hybrid and it has remote start but ghe dealer and factory will not acknowledge it and I don't know why. Read the
manual. It is included in connect services as remote connect.

Toyota Service Depts at the dealerships say the 21 corolla LE hybrid is NOT equipped with remote start and the salesmen also say that the car is not equipped with remote start. Sparks Toyota of Myrtle Beach actually ran me off their lot saying that he (Sales mgr) had been in the business for 20 years and I didn't know what I was talking about. I asked him to try the fob on a 2021 Corolla hybrid on the lot there and he said he didn't have to prove anything to me and for me to hit the road. It is amazing to me that these people are selling and servicing Toyotas and really don’t know anything about the vehicles. Needless to say I will never buy a vehicle from Sparks Toyota of Myrtle Beach SC

My 2021 Corolla Hybrid doesn't have remote start on the keyfob either. If I had one which was working, I would pull the fuse for the 4G antenna that the car uses to phone home back to Toyota HQ.

I don't trust Toyota not to fuck with my car remotely. So I keep the fuse out anyway just to keep them from tracking me and my data.

So this is so confusing. I have a 2022 Corolla Hybrid on order, arriving in the next 2-3 weeks, and trying to find out if it has remote start. Based on the Toyota website, the Hybrid only comes with Connected Services and Safety Connect, but not Remote Connect. However, I hear some people say it works from their key FOB, while others say it doesn't. Somewhere else, someone mentioned that the Toyotas built in the US had the key fob option, while the ones made in Japan didn't. Does anybody know anything more?

Thanks,

Laz

I got a remote starter from a company called MyPushcart. The kit I got only comes with the module that works with your FOB by clicking 3x Lock and it starts the engine. The default is 15 minutes and it turns off. haven’t had ANY issues.

I would strongly recommend against getting any remote starter other than factory original, especially with a Hybrid... Besides draining the battery while in standby, remote starter encourages excessive engine idling.

Do you have a block heater?
Not sure what your on about, but you’re wrong and you sound like you work for Toyota or something. I had a remote starter added to my Corolla 2020 Hybrid with ZERO issues. The vehicle turns off automatically after 15 minutes to not idle and waste any gas/electricity. I believe when it’s being installed, you can even change the length you want it on if you have the right hardware/software for the module as the person that installed mine said there are a ton of settings you can change.

It uses a Fortin EVO-ALL all-in-one remote start data interface Data Bypass Module, which I've referred to a few times before... It does add to your battery current draw while in standby mode.

How long will my Toyota engine run after I activate Remote Start?

After activating the Toyota remote start, your vehicle will idle for about 10 minutes and automatically shut down. If you are running late, press the lock button again in those 10 minutes and have the car idle for ten more minutes.

If your vehicle idles for a full 20 minutes, it will shut down automatically and has to be manually restarted.

I have a '22 4Runner TRD Pro (My Corolla is still on order). My fob works exactly the same, but only the Pro has this feature, no other 4Runner versions.
I almost never use it, but if I lived somewhere cold it could be handy.
Well if you live where it is hot just leave the ac on when you park the vehicle a d then when yo
start it remotely, the ac should be running and cool it

Only way is when you get the car try to remote start it with the FOB. Read the manual there is language in the manual about remote start. The dealer won’t acknowledge anything about remote start. Go to the dealership and ask to see a 2022 Corolla Hybrid and use their FOB to try remote start.
